I agree a soul has 'nothing to do with religion' - certainly not any PARTICULAR one, as otherwise, all other souls who didn't have a particular belief would apparently be damned, according to some zealots and nasty extremists.
II also believe it is our 'essence', and an individual indestructive entity that 'lives' on in a form I'm not sure of, but I hope a better and more enlightened existence than it experiences in life's human (or maybe other animal) forms.
Excellent views on the theme.

The only issue that I have is this being classified as fiction. I suppose you could go either way with it ,however I have always believed ed the soul to be non-fiction.

This is a good entry into the Soul Writer writing prompt contest. Your piece reads clearly and offers a very interesting theory as to who we are and how we operate through our soul. I like the view point that the soul is separate from religions but I don't know if I believe in souls myself. I think people have a sort of energy to them and the energy we put out into the world will eventually come back to us in some way. I don't know if I am really supposed to share my view or just write a review.

First, I liked the title "I'm my soul". It is a fact. The definition of soul slightly varies from religion to religion, but basically it describes who I'm. Body may die but soul doesn't have death, fire can not burn it. Very well written piece. All the best
