Sandra, what a touching poem about a music man that comes and shares with the town monthly, giving merriment, joy, and puts smiles on so many of our faces. Then all of a sudden, he fails to come, and they know that they will not see him again. The great conclusion comes when the music man still finds a way to rain down his melody on the town with his angelic harmonies. Great job!

Ah, now I get it. I've seen this photo on a few other posts I've read. You're all doing you're own take on the photo. Cool!

I enjoyed yours. It's uplifting and cheery.

Well conceived, Sandra.

LOL, John, you should join the group, you would do well. There are over 50 of us now, though we don't write for all the pictures, I nearly dropped out of this one, it was a hard picture. I'm pleased you liked it, though, thank you, my friend. :) Sandra xsx

I wish mine had been this good. This is a wonderful take on the picture.

The rhyme was delightful and the story it told brought a tear to the eye. It is from an era sadly gone by when musicians trooped from town to town.

A great entry Sandra

Hi Sandra, a very nice interpretation of this artwork. This is a tough one. I like the reference to the Music Man and then raining those notes down from heaven.

It took me ages to come up with a poem for this picture, it really was hard. I'm really glad you liked my eventual take, thank you, Melissa! :) Sandra xx

Hi Sandra,

I like how you've set off the different sections of your poem by formatting with long and short lines in your stanzas. That gives the effect of 'featuring' the Music Man in your shorter versed lines and makes him the star of the story in your poem. I especially enjoyed how you took us through the span of his existence, right down to the final stanza, where he is reigning down his harmony from above. My favorite stanza:

We still call him our 'Music Man'
he sends his melody,
by raining notes down on us with
angelic harmony.

Excellent rhyme throughout, this piece is my pleasure to read and review.

Great interpretation of the art, Sandra. I was so busy trying to think of something deep, I would not have thought just to call the guy the music man. Loved it.

As I just said to Dean, Sandra, I must be one of the few fanstory members left who is NOT a member of this group. ;-)

Lovely tale of this special 'music man' who not only entertained, but also taught.

Top meter rhymes and enjambment.

Sad but uplifting ending where he finally rests where he deserves - maybe playing the HARP. ;-)

Really enjoyed this one.

Excellent.

Best wishes, Ray xx

Aww, thanks, Ray. You should get in touch with Jax and put your name down, it's all good fun. I read Dean's earlier, it's good isn't it. I'm glad you liked mine as well. Thanks my friend! :) Sandra xx

Jax asked me ages ago to join up, Sandra, but I declined for various reasons.

What a delightful story. I like the nearly repetitive shorter stanzas, almost like a chorus. Of course he had to die at the end. It's not sad, just the way of life. :)

Thanks, Phyllis. I wanted to get the music notes coming down from Heaven after he died. I'm glad you like it. :) Sandra xxx

Oh! How wonderful! He brought the music!

Just like the rain maker who travels about and brings rain to the
drought stricken lands, making the crops bloom, he brings music
to the souls he touches!!

Such a clever take on the picture :-) :-) :-)

The funny thing is, I didn't realize until now that he is holding
one note in his hand, almost like a candle/torch! What a great
story you have told here :-)
