Good imagination to become old man winters better half. You play along to make winter a wonderland instead of make it more drear than it is in normal circumstances.

Hi there,

Good rhythm and flow to the piece producing a wonderful sense of imagery and the personification is a lot of fun. I wonder if he really does have a better half. probably keeps giving him the cold shoulder!

We've been lucky this year and haven't had much of a winter over here, Janet - sorry to rub it in. ;-)

I've always found it strange that spring and summer are referred to as feminine, and rotten ole winter is male, I wonder which sex made up those definitions. ;-)

Great flow and rhymes here, and a perfect whimsy ending too.

'strange'? - not me, but I'm bonkers, too. Haha.

Excellent.

Best wishes, Ray xx

It probably was a woman who named the seasons. But...Hurricanes names are now equally male/female so maybe the seasons will get a change too.... Although...Old Man Spring just doesn't sound right. ;-)

I think 'strange' is good. haha

Ha ha, I enjoyed this. It's a fun personification of winter. I trust you aren't really telling us you husband is a frosty guy, lol.

I like the 'polar vortex' excuse. Kind of excuse my fella would come out with if he were winter!

One thing, I think windowpane is actually two separate words - 'window pane'.

Thank you for your encouraging review. My husband is anything but frosty but it was fun to write about winter as it's bitter cold here..

Hello Jmf4119, Your poems brings a wintertime carnival to life. I especially liked:

I build ice castles by the lake
And sprinkle diamond dust 'til dawn

(Magical, whimsical)

I also liked:
I'm Old Man Winter's better half.

(Thank goodness for the better half or else we would be neck-deep in snow. I always hoped his better half was a warm sun over Miami ... darn it.)

A fun poem. Great artwork choice. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

I love when we personalize the seasons, because they do so act like humanity at times. What a cute tale, of sweeping and being old man winter's better half. What a fun read.
