Good Morning, Janet,

What a fun poem! I admire your creativity and being able to put a positive spin on this very frigid, snowy winter we've had since mid-January. We still have patches of snow on the ground.

Your quatrains are in fine form with spot-on iambics and strong end rhymes in the ABCB pattern. Your well chosen words create some good imagery. I particularly liked:

I build ice castles by the lake
And sprinkle diamond dust 'til dawn.

Well done,
Ray

PS 32 days until Spring!

Thanks Ray for your thoughtful and encouraging review. It was fun to write as I was looking OUT my window. Winter has become a spectator sport for me.

This is really well done. I love that it seems, at first, almost like a love affair with a ghost. Just curious if you really love winter. I moved to Payson after growing up in Phoenix. So I DO love the snow and a real winter. There is something a bit magical about waking up to a white yard and not being able to see your car as a car, just another snow capped wonder with the rest of the outdoors.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful work.
Jackie

Thank you Jackie for your thoughtful and fun review. Actually, I do love snow - but as I get older - I love it as I watch it through the window. We moved from northwest PA over 10 years ago to the mountains of NC. We do get snow but nothing like we had in PA, where we lived just 90 miles south of Buffalo NY, where they get really nasty winters.

This is such a wonderful and witty poem. Your sense of humor is magical. I did enjoy reading your poem and look forward to others. Those Grandkids are special. I have six myself.

Thank you for thoughtful and encouraging review. Grandkids are special. I have three locally - in fact they are coming over for dinner this evening. The other 8 are in Alaska and that's over 3000 miles away. We don't get to see them very often.

Making the best of winter. His Better Half.' I have no idea what it is like to be snowed under or the bitter cold of winter. We are sweating it out in this part of the world at the moment. Your poem is excellent and I enjoyed reading about the ice age. Very well done.

Thank you for thoughtful and encouraging review. We complained last summer when we had some 90 degree days but now that we are having single digit days, we are longing for summer. Never satisfied, I guess. haha

That is so lovely. Such a lot of pretty images you have managed to conjure up alongside the blustery ones. We do need to have a giggle as the winter continues to chill our bones. I enjoyed yours, and did have that giggle!! xsx sandra

Wonderfully humorous and charming take on the winter freezes we've been having. Great use of rhyme here. The third stanza is especially a stand out. Really eye-catching. I build ice castles by the lake and sprinkle diamond dust till dawn. D alliteration is perfection! This is funny, fun to read out loud, very truthful, captures our frustrations with winter so well, and has lovely use of language and rhyme scheme throughout. Really enjoyed the charming use of humor. Thanks so much for sharing. Excellent ode to the Polar Vortex.

The frost does come to bring forth games
You make my Winter Fairies seem tame
All the storms that comes now
Still must be greeted with Fairies pride

The beauty of Winter flows
With your poem that sets a tone
Marked with slush and ice that fears
The many ways that snow does cheer

So you as the better half
What side of the war do you hold
Winter Fairies with the games of winter
Or Winter Fairies that prepares the thaw
