I like how you use the scriptural phrase,"Rose of Sharon," describing the sacrifice Jesus paid on the cross for our sins. Selfish desires of people today can be traced back to the story of Adam and Eve.

Salvation's Rose stood all alone,
judged and cursed by hearts of stone;
the Rose of Sharon shed a tear,
not for Himself -- He held no fear.
Wonderful, brother Roy....reminds me of this beautiful song...

Bravo Roy! :)
You've created touching words that went beautifully with the image. You definitely have a creative mind. Each word flows together so easily that brings out a message straight from the heart. God has gifted you with something special. Sometimes just mere words can make a difference in someone's life. You surely do that. Thank you my friend. :)
Always you fan,
Shana :)

This is another great poem and so different from the other poems I have read concerning this poem. 'I have one gift (my naked will) one life to give (one heart to fill).' Great verse and thank you for sharing.

Roy,
This is a nice take on this Picture This challenge. You did a great job writing this spiritual piece. These lines fit the picture so well:
the Rose of Sharon shed a tear,
not for Himself -- He held no fear.
Well done.
Blessings,
Anabella

Oh my Friend, Roy,
I feel honored to be your Friend, friend of the NO.1 poet, and you certainly have earned this spot by your many excellent poems such as this one.
I am told that the best fragrant given by a rose is when it is crushed. Hence our blessed Savior!
Your Friend and Spiritual sibling,
Brother Jerry

Yes dear brother I have heard, a young believer who died of leukaemia, two days before she saw Jesus appear to her, nobody else saw Him, but there was a beautiful fragrance that accompanied Him, thank you for this most wonderfully beautifully, uplifting review, my brother, blessings, Roy

Oh, Roy! That was beautiful. There is not a lot more I can say about this, it just is. You have taken the picture and found a beautiful, spiritual masterpiece, and I just love it. It is a credit to you, my friend. A joy to read. :) Sandra xxx

Hi Roy - you have interpreted this beautiful picture in your own perfect way. Lovely poem in good aabb rhyme form. The words used are lovely. I love your final couplet. The whole is a joy to read and I particularly like -
What do I have, with which to pay?
He's shown His grace, revealed His way.
This Rose was crushed; a Lamb was slain,
His blood was shed, to cleanse my stain.
Warm regards Dorothy

With respect, maybe consider another word for the repeated, 'selfless', Roy to give another meaning and interest.
I sense religious connotations here in 'Rose of Sharon' and the 'slain lamb', in particular, though I'm not sufficiently well-read to comment in detail.
Anyway, though the meaning isn't clear to ME, I thoroughly enjoyed this thought-provoking read and interesting take on the artwork.
Cheers, Ray.
