This is a lovely rhymed poem, Roy, for this post of Picture This. I wasn't sure if you were going to post or not as I looked several times. Glad that you did as this one is done so well. Marilyn

What do I have, with which to pay?
He's shown His grace, revealed His way.
This Rose was crushed; a Lamb was slain,
His blood was shed, to cleanse my stain.

such a heart-felt, spiritual poem, Roy -
perfectly presented - so glad I popped
in to review it.

I really enjoyed this one Roy. I've read quite a few with different themes behind this picture. Your poem reminds me of one I wrote a few years back titled "Roses Beneath The Cross". Great job. God bless my friend.

This is a superb interpretation of this lovely artwork. I especially love this verse:

Salvation's Rose stood all alone,
judged and cursed by hearts of stone;
the Rose of Sharon shed a tear,
not for Himself -- He held no fear...

I haven't read any other 'Picture this' entries, but feel this one should be a top contender.

Beautifully penned, Roy. So very touching. No one else came up with Jesus as the rose. Love Salvations's Rose! Beautiful interpretation of the artwork.

I am glad you were inspired by the challenge picture. I admired your focus on the rose, reference to the Rose of Sharon and the ultimate sacrifice. Your rhymed sonnet form is an excellent vehicle for your theme. Cheers- Joan
