Adoption is such a wonderfully, unselfish, act when it comes to giving up a child born out of an untimely, and often tragic pregnancy. My heart goes out to you and all the many other 'hero moms' you have mentioned. I am grateful you chose life. What man meant for evil, God meant for good. (Genesis 50:20) What a blessing your child made, in someone else's life. And now that you have found him again, I pray all is well.

My sister went through this as well. I watched her search for years and found her son and was able to have a great reunion before she died. I salute you.

What a sad story, Patricia. At least you know you did the right thing and your reward will be in Heaven. And besides, you did get to see him and no longer have to worry if he is dead or alive. One good thing in your favor, though, at least he looks like you, and that should be a blessing that he doesn't look like his dad. I think that would have hurt even worse.
God Bless You for your courage.

It is the better choice to save the life of an innocent child who did not asked to be there. Rather than to abandon or abort the fetus, you will be blessed.

BRAVO! Your poem says it all. You are to be commended for your actions. I am thrilled that you and your son were able to find each other. Your lines flow well and tell a great story without being condescending. I am proud of you. Good job and thanks for sharing.

You made the honorable choice and God has rewarded you. Giving the child life forms a bond no one can take away. How lucky you were to find him after so many years and I hope it was a soothing reunion with love and understanding.
Your life was not easy but God saw you through. Blessings to you all.

I do agree, Patricia, that the Moms that decide to keep their blessed babies are indeed heroes, but I also call those that make the choice to give their child up for adoption heroes also...Better to give their baby up, rather than to carry hateful feeling throughout that child's life...and that has been known to happen...I've never had the horror of being assaulted in such a terrible way, but not every woman, is able to go through life knowing they were raped, and a child was born of that assault...I applaud you for how you searched and found your son, and the love you have for him, and the love he gives to you is such a wonderful Blessings...But If a woman manages to even birth such a child, and eventually gives that child up for adoption...is also a hero...Almighty God, knows the heart of each of us, and you surely have been Blessed to have found your son...God Bless you both...
Warmly, and with Christian Love,
Victoria

Victoria , your review is such a blessing to my heart. I know without any doubt that God has blessed me beyond measure for giving life to my son, when all my family wanted me to abort. If my was to be lived over again and the same things happened, I would chose the same and not have regrets. When I searched for my son it was to get health information to him, not to find and know him, But then medical information I had was something which he needed not only for himself but for his children.
There was rampant heart disease in my family and as it turns out he had to have a 4 way heart bypass at 57 years of age. Because he had my medical history, the doctors paid close attention to his heart and listened to him when he explained the pains he was having at such a young age.
You're very welcome, Patricia, God does touch us through-out our lives...we have only to feel his touch, and our hearts will be opened to His word...I only wish so many young people would realize what you have said here...many children are born not knowing who their father is, and the needed medical history that should be available is not there. That was Almighty God, that inspired you to find your son...God know all things...I know you are one happy Mom, and I applaud you greatly..

I agree with you, moms that give birth after a rape truly are hero moms. But I can't condemn the women that choose not to have the child. But I don't consider them to be heroes. I don't know what decision I would make in that case.

Thanks Jaded, for the kind review. As you say you cannot condemn the one who chose not to have the child, neither will I condemn. It is never my place to condemn, that place belongs to God. The wonderful thing about God is He will forgive any sin and none is righteous, for all have sinned and come short of His glory. I am not perfect, I still have times when sin is a problem for me, so I have to sweep my own spiritual house daily and sometimes moment by moment. Patricia

I commend you highly and every hero mom out there. Choosing life is love. Too many say it's a choice but as you know it is a human being. Thank you for sharing and God bless my friend. I'm sure God has many blessings in store for you.

You are a hero Mom, Patricia! It took bold courage and faith to do what you did and go against your parent's wishes. You will always be able to rest in that peace that your did the right thing. I believe people have always needed to hear your story and message, but now may be more timely than ever.
