Hi, Nicole. I am sorry...I don't get it? I looked at the contest directions and still don
t get your entry. So sorry. Perhaps you could explain it to me when you get time. I gave you five stars because I shouldn't grade you less simply because I may be ignorant. LOL...Bob

What if the increasing age of humans creates so many old people the young workers can't keep social security going? What if you have to retire with nothing saved? What if the national debt makes the dollar worthless?
What if all medicines go up in price 5000 percent? You start off nicely, but you stop too soon.

The 'what ifs' you have mentioned are modern worries of aging people. Inflation in Zimbabwe went well over 5000 percent. People could not keep up with it. Prices went up in the shops as people shopped. It became cheaper to use Zimbabwean dollar notes than toilet paper, square for note. Zimbabwe is currently using the US dollar but is in the process of possibly switching to Chinese currency. This might signify that the US is losing global power as third world countries continue to look elsewhere and make deals with other powers.

That is scary, Nicole, more so because the 'what ifs' of the future, could come true. I don't know what would happen if half those, 'what ifs' happened. I don't think I want to be around to find out, because, as sure as you have written them down, most of them will happen. Much food for thought here, my friend. Good luck in the contest. :) xsx Sandra x

Boy does this "what if" contest entry really asks us so many what it's that I believe most people born here never think about. This is such a profound thought provoking story asking and bringing to our attention to some of the greatest atrocities through history and what is happening today.

I wish you good luck in this contest and thank you for sharing this well done piece.

Have a great Friday and the upcoming weekend. I will be glad when this Super Bowl is played and done with. Tired of all the media exposure,

Jim

My God, Nicole. Your glass is half-empty and you're looking for a nail to poke in the bottom. LOL, no, not LOL. One thing I'll say is you hit all the major "What ifs!" Now put them out of your mind, like I just did. Or ... you'll drive yourself crazy!

No, I reckon my glass is half full. If we don't think about these things, then we might be caught unprepared. Lack of preparation is worse. I don't have all the answers, but I know who does.
Daniel was thrown into the lions' den, and the furnace. He prayed like this: The Lord whom I serve is able to save me IF He should so desire.
Nothing is guaranteed, even Daniel qualified his statement with 'if' because he did not know how those situations would turn out.
Too many people view this temporary life with utmost importance while ignoring the eternal because they think it's easier for now. Ignoring taxes will not exempt us from footing the final bill. Consequences for all things eventually come to pass. The choices we make really do count.
    Good night, Jay. Sleep well.

I did sleep well, thank you, and read this mid-day today. My review was more in jest about your seeming pessimism. You found a bunch of examples, though.

A lot of profound questions. Not sure it will meet the requirements though. I was under the impression it had to be about winning a lottery-- and not a good one. Remembering Shirley Jackson's famous story where the winner was stoned as atonement for the sins of the townspeople every year.

What if most of these things are true? Then you have described the world I live in. I don't have many years left on Earth, and the state of the world and the idiots running it give me a good reason to welcome death. Yep, that's how bad it has become. The USA is a huge mess and I doubt we will ever recover from the damage Obama and his cronies have done. My country and its people are no longer recognizable... it's all changed, and for the worst of the worst. What if I die tomorrow? I'll be the first to sing hallelujah, free at last! :)

The world is in a mess, and there's no foreseeable fix and never has been. Too many people view the temporary life with utmost importance while ignoring eternity because they think it's easier. Our decisions are important because they always bring about a harvest and if we don't think, then the fruit of our actions may surprise us.

True. Life on Earth was never supposed to be easy. Certainly not supposed to be a paradise... just the opposite. It's a challenge, a learning place, with many tests along the way. I've just never seen it this bad. But then I wasn't alive for WWII, so I guess it could be even worse.

Things have changed radically. It seems to be an international phenomenon. There's no going back, so we will just have to move forward. It makes me think of the drummer boy out in front!

Well, you're in a better place over there in NZ. Stay put and stay safe. I'm off to bed to dream of better days. :)

What if indeed Nivole, I guess some of the things on that list can and maybe will, and of courses already, it's hard to imagine any of these things will or have, fifty years ago perhaps one couldn't have perceived these happening. And you know a lot about other things that a lot of people don't know about. Well done, Nicole, excellent entry in this contest, well done. My friend, blessings, Roy

Hi, Nicole

= Whew! You make a lot of great points.
= Info overload on the 'What if' scenarios -- making it hard to comprehend everything.
= About 1/2 way through all I heard was, 'What if' as I read.
= Perhaps if you didn't start every factoid sentence with it -- maybe word it so you only use 'What if' every third or fourth point made.
= Just a suggestion. Excellent fact finding and stated.
= This is a super entry, just maybe a little toning down. Good luck in the contest.

* Cheers & Blessings *
