This story disgusts me. Not you or your writing but the disregard of life. I love animals although horses scare me and hate to see any, even horses misused and neglected. Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest.

Thank you. If more people thought like you do we wouldn't have this problem. Thanks for the six stars. I appreciate your feedback.

Hi prettybluebirds, this is a really good entry for this particular competition, I totally agree with what you are saying about disposable pets, Christmas time is the worst when we get lots of animals wandering free around the streets, it keeps the Blue Cross busy over here, I wish you the very best of luck in the contest my friend.

Thank you. It's a sad reality and it will probably never change.

You are welcome my friend.

This is a lovely story, unfortunately based on reality. We had two budgies up to last month. Then one developed a bug and after trying everything to make him better, he died. Although the other one had a great place (he was always out of the cage and had several joined rooms to fly around in), and I'm home a good bit, I still felt sorry for him. We found an aviary with five other budgies. The owner adores them and does everything for them inc. UV light and temperature/ moisture controls etc.
We were sad to see him go, but we know he is so happy there.
How people can deliberately cause animals to suffer is beyond me.
Your pets are so lucky to have you.
All the best in the contest. Great job. :)

Great story and more effective by the tale of your animals to illustrate a wonderful point. I, too have rescued animals for years, though I keep vowing to stop. I have allergies to cats but at present we have 5 rescued dogs and 2 goats. This story was well written and held the reader's attention from beginning to end. It is our gift to have these animals take us in.

Thank you. The world needs more people who care and less of the low mentality individuals who dump animals.

Couldn't agree more with this well written story. We have five cats and a dog and they are family and the cats are all spayed and neutered. A necessity if you don't want unwanted kittens. They are all wonderful pets. Had dogs and cats all my life. Far to many just dump them when they become unwanted. Same problem here in Spain. Good luck in the contest. All the best. Ulla

Thank you. You're from Spain? That's a long way from Michigan. Sad to say, the dumping of animals is a world wide problem.

Well, I am Danish moved to Britain many years ago and now we live in Spain and here we stay to the end. Ulla:)

I'm not a cat lover but I can certainly appreciate the writing of one. It's amazing how many good points you pack into one excellent piece. You managed to touch on a myriad of problems concerning this unfortunate species, all accomplished in a free flowing and thoroughly interesting way.
Not to make light of the problems you addressed, I found this story cativating.
[This was a typo, which I decided to make use of. I hope you don't mind.]

Thank you, Marvin. It's too bad we can't dump those irresponsible people somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Thanks very much for the six stars.

I agree, animal cruelty come in so many forms. You true story sadly rings true. Well written and it is obvious you put you emotions into your writing.

Thank you. Yes, nothing upsets me more than animal abuse.

I totally agree with you about people who abuse and abandon animals leaving them to fend for themselves. In my mind, it would seem as though they qualify almost as child abusers. It's good to know there are caring people like you who will take in those abandoned animals and give them a good home. All those poor animals want is a chance to survive.

thank you for this kind and insight piece of writing that speaks directly to my heart. I am ashamed to call myself human sometimes and would rather be a dog or a cat when I see how some of the world treats animals. I truly believe like you that they nothing more than sadist and very mean, mean people. Even worse are the puppy and kitten farming... I hear your message and I do my best to speak this truth as often as I can. I was brought up that an animal if a pet is a pet for life and I treat mine a family and that means love at no matter what it cost. Thank you again and good luck with the contest.
