This has to make it into the book. It is certainly a stand alone story, but it speaks in depth about the spirituality and the need to be connected to you as he departed, the signs he left behind, and your instinctive understanding of all you've seen and felt.

Amazing that both your parents understood you were gifted with the ability to channel earthly and spiritual messages.

Yes, Ingrid, I will include this stand alone story in the book, perhaps the beginning, because it was my discovery of the poem "Flight Across Heaven's Gate" and the existence of the mural that launched my investigation that led to my "Poetry and Poison" double biography. Things kept happening which I cannot dismiss as a coincidence. I believe that we are all connected. My task is to find those connections, those invisible webs. I am not a shaman, but I am "gifted with the ability to channel earthly and spiritual messages." My parents understood this. Otherwise, they would not have left so many clues behind. This has been a fruitful journey for me and I am glad to share it with others. Thank you for your generous, six star review.

Thanks for sharing the story. It had a nice opening and I found that I wanted to know more about the characters. Concise and well written.

One of the most interesting and emotive things I have read on FS, SIS CAT. We have no 'sharmans' in our culture, (unless they hide behind a different name), but I have read a lot about their skills and abilities. There is so much in this world we know little or nothing about, and I for one, hope the Heavenly Gates reveal all. Thank you for adding to my learning on this earth.

Thank you, alvina, for your generous, enthusiastic six star review. You are among many reviewers who said they learned something from this story. My father would be so proud right now if he knew people were talking about his poetry, his mural, and his hopes for Heaven's Gate. "There is so much in this world we know little or nothing about." Thanks for your review.

That was such a good story. As I grow older, I find myself searching for more stories of this type. Your story and author's notes were very educational, and I will be looking for more of them. The photo's are amazing, your father was a very talented man. You wrote your story very well, and I can imagine you are an excellent oral storyteller. Loved this one. :) Sandra xx

Thank you, Sandra, for your review. I am so proud of my father that he created that mural. The mural and the poem crystallized his hopes to fly over Heaven's Gate. I discovered these two creations just as he was preparing to take his flight. Then I encountered the moth swarm in his studio after he passed. My father would be so thrilled to know people acknowledge his talent today. Thank you for your review.

Interesting read. I enjoyed it. Would have liked to known more on what they were feeling on losing a loved one and how life might go on for them without their father.

Oh, thank you, MaGordon, for your review. I made a calculated decision to focus not on my father's death or on my grief, but on the shaman and the hopes for the afterlife she saw. While everyone was crying about losing Dad, I kept my wits about myself and gathered his documents, which he had instructed me to do. One of my father's quotes states, "Do not come to my grave crying; get involved." I live his statement by putting his poetry and artwork out there so people can continue to enjoy them. Thank you for your review.

I found this a fascinating piece. I love the fact that you interspersed it with your father's artwork. You've shared your thoughts on your experience in a touching way. Your writing is fluid and paints a full picture of events.

Thank you, Sarkems, I am glad I included my father's mural, too, in this "fascinating piece." It lends a weight of veracity to my story. I also have his original sketch and receipts, and an email from the mural's owner. I am glad our experience touched you. Thank you for your review.

Hello, Cat :)

I enjoyed your story about the shaman called Divine. You are a great storyteller. The school where I take art classes just a project called worn stories of the heart.

I find mystic arts interesting and you captivated me with your story from the start. Good job!

I found this extremely interesting. Coming from a Western white upbringing with out any contact with native people leaves me unprepared for such encounters. So your story holds much education for me. The story engaged me from the beginning and the pictures were very helpful, Giddy

Yes, Giddy, because of my Western upbringing, the shaman and the events surrounding my father's transition drew me like a moth to a flame. Sure, fathers die everyday and we grieve, but my father's death was unordinary from a Western point of view. This was a spiritual experience. I am glad you found my account to be "extremely interesting." Thank you for your review.
