I feel your pain. I am so lost on technology, it changes too fast for me. I have problems with my computer sometimes and I still use the library computer which usually works well.

Technology can't sit still. Brain Drain.' I think I can, I think I can. Yes, my sentiments exactly, Shari. I find the same problems as you, and therefore I want to say; good onya, girl. Enjoy a very Merry Christmas, we had ours yesterday. Kind regards. Chasennov.

Thanks for your input. We celebrate the 27th when my grandchildren come over. I'm at that age where I can wait. :-)

You are most welcome, Shari. Of course you are. Have a Merry Christmas then.

You are indeed the little red engine of Fanstory. Didn't "I think I can, I think I can" eventually turn into "I know I can?" Wishing you and yours a "merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! SMAKACKAKAJB

HI Shari. I started using the new FS when they introduced it last year, mand haven't gone back to Classic at all. It took a couple of weeks of playing around, but I never found any reason to go back. I still find new things my phone can do for me, and surprise ... It's had it all the time. I hope to get caught up with your book as soon as I can.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Good to hear from you, Karyn. You disappeared from my radar for a while. I'm not posting anything until after the New Year when rankings starts from scratch.
reply by IndianaIrish on 23-Dec-2015
Yeah, I disappeared. My husband had a massive heart attack in November, was in ICU for 12 days, then we disconnected his life support and transferred him to Hospice Center. He had gone too long without oxygen and never woke up from his coma...he passed away December 4th. It's been a horrible month, and just now feel like posting some writing. Happy Chridtmas to you and your family.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Karyn. How long had you been married? I trust that you are aware he's watching over you still. You may even see signs that's he near---a familiar smile, a song on the radio, a phone rings and no one's there, flickering lights.
That you can begin to write again is a sign too.
    Hugs,
    Shari

Thanks so much, Shari. We were married 33 years. I kept wishing we had discussed a code like you and your mom and the yellow rose. Thanks for your kind words :-)

I'm writing now about the pending death of my younger sister. Cancer discovered too late. She died at 65.
I arranged a sign with her too, and again it worked. This will be covered in the next two chapters. I'm waiting for the New Year to post.

Hi Shari:

I just read your "Technology can't sit still. - Brain Drain" article. Great title. I've only received two highlighted messages that read, "You are using an outdated and unsupported version of FanStory Click here to use the current version."

Re how to make the print LARGER, please let me know if you figure it out. I thought it was only me -- and a bit relieved to know how others feel about it also.

I need help on google images also, and hope I get a camera for Christmas that just points and shoots...but then I will have to fiend someone to show me how to do it, loll!

It's so great to have your son help you on some of that stuff, but what I liked and enjoyed most about your post were your ending lines..

"At least these changes keep my brain in shape. I refuse to be beaten by a machine. Call me the little red engine who said over and over "I think I can."

I am with you 100 percent on that, lol!

Blessings,
Nan:))

Wow! I feel threatened. I wrote Tom and told him I do not like the new version. For one thing, the print is smaller. He told me how to make it larger, but I still have to experiment with that.

To change the size of print, press "Ctrl" (control) key along with the "+" key on the far right of the keyboard. Letters will get later. Press Ctrl and the minus sign to make text smaller.

As for google images, find the picture you want, click on it, then click the right side of your mouse for a menu. One of the items is "Save picture as". Click on that. You'll get a white rectangle with the space where you can title the picture or just leave the word that's already in there (Usually "image" and/or a bunch of numbers. Click save. It will go the "pictures" folder or your site. Windows 10 sends the name of it to my documents, but I know where to find it (alphabetical listing, thank goodness.
Now when you post and want to put in your own photo, go to Browse, find it in your picture site, highlight it
and close, then post on FS.

Hope this helps. I'll enlarge my reply.

The little engine that could--great quote for old timers like you and I, LOL. I am also getting that horrible little warning note. Does this mean Classic is in hospice now? I swear, if we're forced to use the new version i will not continue here. I hate it! And I very rarely hate ANYTHING. Also, it is SLOWER! Aargh.

Thanks for voicing this. I enjoy the witty overtone of satire in your writing.

Love,
rd

Love and happy holidays to you too, rd. Classic is Hospice--good one. :-)
I think Tom is feeling everyone out about the switch and hoping they've changed their minds.

Might interest you to know I'm taking a course called Psychic Mediumship Spiritual Awareness now. We're a group of fifteen who meet for 2 and a half hours once a month for eleven months. It's exciting to find out our potential and to meet with like minds. Our teacher learned her abilities by studying in Britain. She says the teachers are much stricter there when it comes to certification.
reply by rama devi on 22-Dec-2015
Thanks for the update, dear S! Great news about your medium course...I think you did tell me about it. It's indeed wonderful to find like-minded people eager to evolve the untapped potential...that's what living in an ashram is like, too! One becomes encouraged when such a path seems normal to everyone else, and one is no longer 'swimming upstream against society's currents' so to speak.

Discipline is important...so I am glad she is aware of how strictness can ultimate FREE you! Growth...

    Love,

Good for you! I'm sticking with Classic until it sinks to the bottom of the ocean covered with rust. I hate the wide band in the new one since it's claustrophobic... you can't see enough at once. BAD DESIGN has never been so obvious. If I were younger and not dying soon, I would hire someone to make a site like this that I would run, with no buying site dollars allowed. Tom just wants to make money. He has no clue how to make a website. He has broken so many good features since I've been here. All he does is make things WORSE. I miss the indented type button, now grayed out, and my pictures no longer center on poems, so I have stopped writing them or post them off-cnter by cheating in Photoshops and using same color background on pic and type. Too much of a nuisance, so I gave up altogether.

By the way, to make browser test and pics larger on my mac, I hit command and =/+ key. To make smaller I hit command and - key. On a PC I think you would use control and the key, right?

Yeap, I discovered how to adjust the size.
hate the wide band in the new one since it's claustrophobic... you can't see enough at once. -- you put it in words that I couldn't think of.
The posts look like they're about to be crushed.
Heard he has something new in mind after the holidays. Cripes!
reply by Phyllis Stewart on 22-Dec-2015
Oh, goodie. Another "improvement"... sigh. Maybe he's selling the site to someone who KNOWS how to program? I'd pay extra for that!

The current generation is so used to the internet and it's technolgical changes that they just move foreward as if it's no big deal.
We grew up using the same dishes and towels until the broke or wore out. It's not that way any more.
I can't say that I've totally adapted, but I constantly ask my son questions. Windows 10 is currently free. Good Deal? No. Why? because newly introduced versions have initial glitches that have to be worked out. The free users complain and Windows fixes it. When they sell it, which they will, it is free of initial complaints.
It's kind of like being the first to test a new drug. If you don't die or get another disease in ten years, the drug is save.

We have to keep up or be frustrated. It's easier to keep up.
I never use the old FS. Why not use the new one? Change isn't a bad thing. It's just different.

I'm afraid that I don't feel your pain, Shari.

Merry Christmas and Happy 2016!

Hugs,

:) ellen

You're right about us being test rabbits for Windows Ten. I paid forty dollars for a private tutorial session and even the "expert" couldn't figure out why mine had a glitch.
I am making an effort on the new site. Mainly, I hate all that black. Tom is planning something new on the site as our Christmas present, I guess. LOL
reply by barkingdog on 21-Dec-2015
I don't know what you're refering to when you say 'all that black'.
Windows--any edition is a nightmare, initially.
I wonder what Tom has planned. I just got used to this one. UGH!

I hear Tom is planning a color change on the new one. We'll see. As it is now, the top third is black with white print.

My husband and I haven't upgraded to Windows 10 yet. He said sometime next year we will but he's waiting for something. I forget why he said he was waiting, there's a reason. I haven't been able to get the old fanstory since it switched. I tried for a couple weeks but gave up. Now I'm use to this and if I every switched back I'd have to relearn everything again. What a nightmare!

Your hubby's smart. Any new program offered free has glitches. A lot of new users are finding that out.
