Oh my, you certainly left me hanging with this one. Not at all what I was expecting. Excellent dialogue in this one and very emotional too. I look forward for the next chapter.

Ulla, I honestly don't see how tis could be improved - it's captivating! Reading this is like sitting around the table with you and your Mum - a warm, comfortable feeling, and so genuine I could almost feel the hairs at the back of MY neck rising at that part- you HAVE to post again soon. What a cliff-hanger! This is such a wonderful story!

Ulla, I honestly don't see how tis could be improved - it's captivating! Reading this is like sitting around the table with you and your Mum - a warm, comfortable feeling, and so genuine I could almost feel the hairs at the back of MY neck rising at that part- you HAVE to post again soon. What a cliff-hanger! This is such a wonderful story!

This is a beautiful chapter of a story. I felt the impact from the point of view of the adopted child now being able to trace her mother and learned more of the story about her. I felt sad and at the same time, torn between some kind of decision were I the mother in that story. I became sympathetic and also mad at the decision of what she did, giving away her own child. If I were the mother, no matter what, I would stick with my own daughter rather than giving her away. I would just seek aid from somebody else but never to give my own flesh and blood to anyone. Thanks for sharing. I would be watching for the next chapter.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, and for the stars. I am so pleased. Well, it was not that easy in those days. Anyway I have never hold it against my mother. I had a beautiful upbringing, and when I finally decided to find her at the age of fifty one I had no regrets. It was lovely. The real shock is my grandmother who altered fate. She could've easily sugar coated things to make you both feel better, but she gave you the gift of truth, however painful, and you handled it with grace and maturity. Thank you so much for this hear felt review. We got on so well from day one my mother and I, and I have never felt any resentment there. My grandmother was another kettle of fish. She altered all our lives.I am glad she was long dead so I didn't have to deal with her. More is to follow soon. A very Merry Christmas to you and yours. Ulla:)

It's hard to imagine what it must be like meeting your real mother for the first time after all those years, but you and your mum seem to hit it off immediately. Your patience is astonishing too. I'm sure I would be rushing her on to find out what happened to my father, but you obviously appreciated that, having waited so long to find out, another few hours wouldn't hurt.
I hope you are all ready for Christmas, and Santa is well organised!

Hi Alexis, thank you so much for the review and the extra star. It means so much to me. You have helped me so much in the year just gone by, and made my writing getting better all the time. I've learned so much.
Well, it was a shock for me to learn what happened on my mother's wedding day and the implications to all of us. I think I'm glad I could never meet my grandmother. But more of that in next chapter.
So you have changed your plans and now in wee Scotland. I hope you have a wonderful time with your family, and yes we are all set to celebrate the next few days. Tomorrow the 24th is really my Christmas. That is when we celebrate it with family dinner and lightning the tree with real candles, singing carols and we also give and receive the gifts. I love that evening, which Alan my Scottish husband has learned to love as well. And then of course we celebrate on the 25th.

I must admit that I would have had some resentment in knowing that my mother had a final chance to change her mind and still let me go, despite the fact she was now married and the man was more than willing to adopt. You are a very forgiving woman, Ulla.

Bev, Thank you so much for your review. I have always thought my mother had good reasons for doing what she decided to do. Who am I to condemn her. It leads nowhere. I had a very happy upbringing and a very happy life. What did get to me was my grandmothers actions who altered all our lives. More to follow on that. A very Merry Christmas. Ulla

There's always a lot of peripheral reasons involved in any decision. I'm glad that you were able to connect with a loving adoptive family. That certainly had to have led to your generous spirit towards your mother.

An amazing part of a story of a reunion between a mother and a daughter who she gave up for adaption as they catch up on the mothers past and all the incredible events that took place in order to bring them up to this incredible moment of rediscovery. Well written with a great plot and a mystifying ending!
