This is a nice little bit of silliness for the season. There are quite a few words I've never seen before, and perhaps a few uses for old words. I imagine it would be hard to be a judge for such a competition.

Chrissy, thanks so much for the lovely review.

This is the fifth in the Gobbledegooks series. I may well have to continue until I get Hilda and Rupert married off.

I haven't had such a good canter since the good news was brought from Aix to Ghent! A rumbustious poem that leaves MasterChef in the shade and the kitchen could have come straight out of Alice in Wonderland! My only suggestion, as far as tempo is concerned, is 'rattle of tins' rather than 'rattling' in the 11th verse. Wonderful names - you've had some fun there! Could there be a Princess Hilda in the offing, I wonder? Good luck in the contest. I'm anticipating a runaway victory for you, celebrated with a slice or two of Christmas cake.

I galloped, Dirck galloped, we galloped all three - but they were all galloping in the other direction. I think there is a parody where they went Vice Versa1

Thanks so much for the kind remarks - I appreciate them coming from you. I have already had two victories for the month - one more than my quota, but yes, another one to complete the trifecta would be a welcome Christmas present, especially since my income dries up over the Christmas holidays!

Have a great Christmas, Tony. Are you still B&B-ing? I expect you'll have guests over Christmas and work to do...

Happy Christmas to you. Yes, we are fully booked over the Christmas break and for most of the January school holidays - so it will be fairly busy. However, we usually have about 15-20 nights booked throughout the year, so not much more than usual - just hotter weather for the changeovers!

Wonderful poem. Great story shared in a poem. I enjoyed reading the fancy names, well presented. I'm sure the kids will enjoy hearing this poem when told to them. Well rhymed from start to the end. Good luck in the contest. Keep it up.

Good One. This seems more like a story versus a piece of poetry. With way you have done a fine job with it. Is this a story you have created on your own? What inspired it?

    Thanks, Angie.

This is one of a series of poems about the Gobbledegooks - I am gradually working towards getting the scullery-maid Hilda married off to Prince Rupert. A few more adventures first - I believe I will have him go off to fight a dragon next....

This is the fun-est poem I think I've read here on FanStory. But it's not just funny, it's witty and it's intelligent.

Your comedic timing is impeccable.

I found two spelling errors that don't effect the rhyming:

They come bearing chocolate and cheeses and chilli, [Chili has only one "l"]

See Hilda's sweet blushing, her legs growing week [...legs growing WEAK]

Good luck on the contest. If they're looking for the joy of language, yours should be a shoo-in.

Thanks, Jay. Joy of language must have won the day!

I appreciate the sharp eye for spelling - chilli vs chili is a UV vs American thing, but week was a typo.

    Merry Christmas.

Deliciously scruptious baking contest. Chefs are battling in a baking contests with flour, sugar, eggs flying every way. Bouncy competitive verses sing joyfully to cooking contest.liberty justice

Wow! This is fantastic. Entertaining from beginning to end. I love the characters and the images are vivid in my mind. This would make a great picture book for children, in my humble opinion. I think this is a top contender in the contest, if not the winner. Sorry I'm out of sixes.

    Thanks, Joy.

This is the fifth episode in my Gobbledegooks series. I have tried to get a publisher interested, but no luck so far. I intend to keep going till I get Hilda and Rupert married off!

Yes, it is a winner - my third this month - I'm really on a roll.

This is a masterwork as far as I'm concerned. I truly enjoyed the farcical story and all the zany names. The contest was full of neat names and concoctions. The conclusion was happy and made this a wonderful read.
