It helps to be a narcissist to be a politician; to separate one's self and one's motives from the crowd. The narcissist and the crowd need each other as the game of exploitation begins. Indeed we live in a vast, narcissistic society. We always have done so as we pursue that lowest form of human expression, politics. Lies are the currency. As for truths, what does anyone mean by it. One man's truth is another man's lie. The French call it 'Mauvais foi' or bad faith. We all indulge in it as we deceive ourselves and our truths turn to lies. Cheers. -Ekim777

Victor Touche: do I smell "politics" in your meaning within this fine piece of prose? It certainly sounds like it. And, you have done such a great job of being sarcastic! Only a few of us can do that well. Let us clink our Bud Light bottles in the air, up at the bar and discuss how we would save the world . . .great writing. Linda

I found this to be an interesting reads
you captured my attention from the first line to the last.
This is what I call a food for thought poem.
Meaning it makes you think.
Thanks for sharing.

Tis is a good poem. The title Truth or politics seems to be an oxy-moron. Is there ever any totally truth telling in politics? Patricia

I can quite sympathise with you and your candidate choices. When I listen to our shadow Labour leader, I despair! What is going on? Excellent poem, Victor, love the ending! xsx Sandra

I, personally was never a Bob Dylan fan. Regardless, I thought your poem spoke well and filled with meaning.

Nicely done and the photo mirrors it well.

This is a very cynical view of politicians. But it seems to be true of most. They seem to care more about themselves and winng than us and the problems of the world which they say they serve and correct. Maybe they do. But they don't go about it the right way.

Keep writing

The poem states a rather dooms day view of our current choices for president. I assume it is about Trump and Hillary. Since I favor her, my description would be different. On the other hand, the dislike is held by many.
An interesting approach to the political process. June

Hi there,

A fine piece of social commentary on display here with an added personal touch.

I despair at politics, I never vote because there is no point. The lesser of two evils and all of that.

Nice piece.
