Snowflakes tap dancing on the tongue rather than heralding shoveling the driveway; staying up late to hear the bells and maybe even reindeer hooves on the roof rather than Black Friday door busters- Christmas was so much better as a kid. Thanks for taking me back.

I often wonder why those moments in our past are so memorable. Most of my past was not so wonderful, but what was, I latched onto hungrily, and those memories seem to have been written in indelible ink.

Thanks for the great review. I'm in good shape, decorated inside today, lots of baked goods in the freezer and except for gift cards, done shopping.

I usually finish shopping before Thanksgiving, and this year was no exception. The only decoration I have up is my card tree, because I was get one greeting at Thanksgiving. Now, I just have a few weeks to conjure up my holiday letter. You're way ahead of me with the baked goods--congratulations! -Joan

I usually finish my shopping before Thanksgiving, and this year was no exception. But the only decoration I have up is my card tree, because we always get one greeting around Turkey Day. Now, I have to focus on composing my holiday letter. You're way ahead of me with the baked goods--congratulations! Enjoy your holiday Sunday- Joan

This is a lovely Christmas poem Dallas. It's been a while since I saw your name on FS. This poem can be identified by everyone. Good use of alliteration throughout and good use of metaphor in the 'scent of love' - beautiful presentation. Good luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x

Thanks, Dorothy. Been in and out. Rather sporadic as I am involved in a rather time-consuming project. Should be able to wrap it up in mid-April. Hope you have a joyusChristmas, in case we don't hook up before that.

Best wishes to you also Dallas - may it be a good Christmas for you. Look forward to your return - we need the good poets on FS. Regards Dorothy x

What a lovely poem of memories. When we look back on our childhood, remembering those magical moments, what a rush of joy we get in our hearts. This is a wonderful Christmas Poetry contest entry. Good luck! xsx Sandra

This is a lovely entry for the Christmas poetry contest. You bring a wonderful feeling out with your words. I could see everything you describe and wish I could try one of the cookies baked in busy ovens :) Good luck in this contest!

A beautifully nostalgic look at Christmas traditions
and the joys of the season.
I like the use of repetition as you name the reasons for joy.
A lovely wishful piece.
Good luck in the contest.

A very pretty Christmas scene and nice poem for the Christmas poetry contest. I like the repeat of the word joy and the highlighted words accentuated. I could almost smell the cookies in the oven! Best wishes in the contest.
