So often people, caught in life's race are too hurried to take time to realize the beauty of this earth. Mother nature, though pragmatic, can exhibit quiet, astounding beauty. Your tribute to the Great Blue Heron acknowledges that beauty.

Hi Mermaids - this is a lovely poem about a lovely bird. I've never seen a blue one. I see one by the millstream rgularly - stock still for ages, as if a statue, then he pounces. Loves this descriptive piece. Warm regards Dorothy x

They are a pleasure to watch aren't they. I used to go to a lagoon next to U.C Santa Barbara and watch then at noon every day while feeding the seagull with pizza bread throw out every day by a local pizza parlor.

I have a particular affinity for birds ... mostly parrots. When I lived in California, we had 13 parrots ... quite a job to clean up after. But all birds have a beauty that most other creatures do not.
