Sigh...this reminds of a man named Harry Baldwin. He was my dad's friend who, in all his wealthy glory, was truly a big game hunter. His basement looked just like this. I was only nine when we were allowed to wander down there one evening. I remember sobbing when I saw a little honey bear stuffed and holding an ashtray like a tiny manservant. :/

Lord, what a horrible image. Heartbreaking. I understand hunting for food and truly those who do are sooo respectful of the animals who are sacrificed. But those who think it's fun, I'll never understand. Thank you for sharing your story. It will stick with me. mikey

Yep, I don't see no human heads hanging on that bulk-head. That may be frowned upon,we are the Apex predator over-seeing nature and this world. Guess we have little respect for animals displaying them as a trophy, a conversational piece to glorify. Looks like Norman Bate's cottage gone wild! Looks like a great contender. Lets see... i see 6 bison heads on Norman Bates wall and a couple unknown species?? Six stuffed birds and some chipmunks. BOO

very well said....I believe you kill for food...and not in a cruel way...God gave us the wildlife the eat...not to make sport of it...how can people actually think God enjoys seeing things like this...making a sport out of living animals...they should be praying the food was given to them...and leaving it as that...take no pride in killing them...there is no pride to be had...only sadness...very well written...Luff Linda xxoo

This is a good entry for this country. I agree with you man is a nuture's murderer. While all other living beings maintain ecological balance, man destroys it. Good luck in voting

You send a strong message in so few words. We are nature's murderer and its truest enemy, all the while basking in its glory and speaking of its magnificence and beauty. It seems we kill what we love because OUR nature is destructive.

Hello :)

I like your poem for the haiku on death in nature contest. I wrote one too :) But we are both on different pages, which is good. You have the two connected lines and a satori line. Good job!

I agree with you 100%. Congratulations for the courage to express this. There is no place for wild creatures to go. They are displaced by people who want to kill them. Thumbs up on this one. Marilyn/BeasPeas

Hello author
OH, yes your haiku speaks alone about hunters just getting pleasure for his ego
to kill animals.
Not when he is in need to feed his family

Of course I tried to picture or understand your haiku without the artwork. Naturally the wording alone led me to a rather abstract understanding. Perhaps I am wrong and you will clarify that for me.

I hate doing this because it can be annoying to some authors. Hopefully you aren't one.

In alignment with the artwork to me it would be more:

head hunters
animal eyes stare from the wall
above the fireplace

Ha. Anyway best wishes to you in the contest, and if I'm still alive to vote I guess that means you weren't craving the hunt to get me. :-)

Wow. I love your piece a lot. Yep, it matches the artwork perfectly. I think I should have left the artwork off as I didn't mean mine as specifically as the artwork makes it seem. So, could for pointing it out. I was going for a more general nature of man murdering everything, the environment, each other, all things worthwhile. Of course there are more benign hunts as well... wink, wink. Hahahaha. Well, if I'm creepy I'm in trouble.....
