Hi Debbie,
so right, bad taste never goes out of style... and I must say this wonderfully constructed senryu just made me smile at the humor of it... and that can't be a bad thing, right?
Not sure if it is a universal thing... but here in Australia we just celebrated another 'Pink Day' dedicated to those, their families who are or have gone through breast cancer... they have big Pink parties,breakfasts, lunches, any excuse to raise monies to fund further research... they sell Pink ribbons and well on that day, pretty much anything goes with the colour Pink... so I guess this fine poem could also sit as an advertisement and promotion of that day... no matter, well done and presented in any one's books.
With our thoughts we create,
well wishes to friends
who we hold close in our hearts,

Ironic poem. How can bad taste even go out of style when it is never in style.
This poem reminds me of the so many Afro-Americans I see with pink,green, blue and/or red hair dye/spray in their hair.

However, another individual may see it as a way of exercising individualism or youthful rebellion. I think it was in during the 50's here for a while. I don't know because that is a bit before my time. Wow, it's been a while since I have said that. Mostly, I just say how young everyone looks--you understand I am sure~Debbie
