Very heart-warming story, I can understand your attitude to death as you have been introduced to it so early on in life. It is good to feel that death is not final, and that those that have passed on are still around us forever. Well narrated with good descriptions and some of the joys of life. Couple of things, Para 2, should read shone, it is an intransitive verb and does not take an object (shined is only used as in shined shoes) Para 12, eighth grade. Good luck in the contest. faye

if I had a six available, this would be yours. the description of your losses and your acceptance of each was just so beautiful, intriguing the reader to want more. I wish you the best of luck in the contest.

A 6 star in thought is almost as good as 6 stars in reality! Thanks for your time and kind comments.

Mystery writer: thanks for the early morning chat. Come over anytime and we'll share stories. It's amazing how you remember the delightful times of your family. They brought you joy and pain. They loved you! The precious time of your Uncle James giving you gifts and inspiring you to read. Your Mom was wise to give you advise that she was always lifting you up. You remember the details as they impacted your life. Great witness to the world. Terrific entry of a part of you facing life and death. Super story telling. I'ill fly into your site again. flylikeaneagle

Annie is cheering for the football team. They are in state playoffs today. Exciting times! I'm staying home to paint the doors of the house! Mom time!!! LOL!

Hi Mystery Author, this is a really good entry for this particular competition.
We must all cling on to the wreckage when a loved one dies, I hold out hope every day that my daughter will give me a sign, so don't let anyone talk you out of what you truly believe.

I wish you the very best of luck in the contest my friend.

Keep your eyes, ears and heart open for your daughter's contact. It will come when your least expect it, but need it the most. Good thoughts are sent your way. Thanks for the good luck wishes.

Hi there,

I found this piece to be very well written and engaging. Death doesn't have to be the end of life. If we are held in memories and live on through our children then life becomes eternal.

All the best

I don't fear death either. Like you I just hate to think of missing important mile stones in the life of my family in this current body/form. I guess I'd see them even after death if I hung around.
I totally agree with everything you said.
Good luck in the contest.

How lovely to live with the kind of assuredness that has mmade your losses, though very sad, bearable. Thank you for sharing these beautifully written words of comfort. :) Nancy

I liked the last line of your essay most -'...I have no fear of earthly death'. I searched for the obvious question one would ask 'Why' and got the answer. It is simply because of your attitude towards life which includes death. As you have explained, the mere physical death need not mean end of everything. It is said that death has three stages - the first stage is reached when the body dies, the second when the body is buried and the third stage is reached once the memory of the dead is erased from the minds of relatives and friends. In your case, the third stage has never been reached.

Wish I had a six for this. It is so worth the warmth and comfort the story brings to the heart and yes, to the soul. Your words are compelling and speak from a place deep inside, the quill from the pen dipped in the ink of truth. Best of luck with the contest. It's a winner as far as I'm concerned. Loren

This is a great perspective of the way one sees death, and I especially felt the impact your uncle and mother's death had on you. You had a very special relationship with both individuals and although their passing affected you differently, nevertheless they both impacted you greatly.
Your mother was a remarkably wise lady especially when , despite her illness, she took the time to nurture her relationship with you. That truly was a blessing which you still hold dear in your heart.
Your topic is well expressed and the writing flows well. The reader gets caught up in the story and is able to empathize with you, as you experience the effects of death at different stages of your life.
