Wow....such truth in these lines. It does seem we only keep up with our friends at another friends death. So many people I never see until I run into them in a funeral home. Great message...blessings....

It is so easy to lose track of people with all that is going on in our lives. Thank you for reading and for your feedback.

This write is sure one that I can relate to well, Delahay. I have had a few friends pass away way before their time should have been up. Sometimes it's hard to keep in touch, especially with everyone living from one end of the country to the next.

Your write struck a chord with me, as for many years my ex and I transferred (for this work) from one place to the next and lost touch with many people that we were close too. It is sad when we do hear of an old friend's passing, and we weren't able to stay in touch much.

I love your title ... "Once In A Blue Moon" ... it really befits this write.

Well written and presented ... I enjoyed your poem!

Thank you for your thoughtful review. It is far too easy to get caught up in our every day lives and let important things just slip past.

That's a good question, Delahay, because once a month isn't that infrequently.
We should do our very best to keep in contact with those we love and care about, or call "friend."
As moribund as this may sound, not a single one of us are guaranteed a tomorrow.
Excellent rhyming and flow in this poem presented in rhyming quatrains.
Thanks for sharing.

    Dean,
How right you are. It's unfortunate that so many people and families just go their on way. Thank you for you review and your

This is a really good poem with a nice storyline. It's very well written with a consistent syllables count and good rhyming. The only rhyming I don't get is where you rhyme "the big C" with "I had no idea". That just seems to break up the flow a little. Overall this is a really good poem.

Thank you for reading and for your feedback. I could not think of a way to fit cancer in with the rhyme scheme.

Oh, I have been longing to give a six to somebody...needed to wake the senses. You have done that. I like the delivery of this, through dialogue. Nothing force. By speaking about one thing you cover areas of another. Cleverly done...and with much feeling. It is not only time and its passing that weighs strong here, but the toll it takes.
beautiful in a sad way.
Well done, author.

Have a great day.

I liked your poem. Never thought about the meaning of blue moon! But you are so right about staying in touch, being referred to as "once in a blue moon!" Intentions are there, but life situations get us so involved, that sometimes we forget about all those friends we promised to stay in touch with! Your poem put it altogether for me. It seems that the 2 moons don't happen very often. I learned something today! Thanks.

Isn't this the sad state of affairs, we all move on, life perpetually changes and our priorities change. Naturally our social circle evolves and those that we promised would be nearby forever distance themselves too. Is it wrong? Is it sad? No, it just is. We can carry the good memories, the fun and appreciate having those moments. We then continue on and find some more happiness to share.
Great nostalgic piece

This poem was really clever! Every stanza made the meaning of this poem even stronger. I loved how you ended this poem with, " Once in a while becomes
Once in a blue moon." Thank you for sharing!

This poem, Once in a Blue Moon, is a poignant verse that reminds readers that being out of contact with friends is like killing them off before their time. Get the phone book. Nice poem.

We often wait just a little too long to get in touch with. There is always tomorrow, until there isn't. Thank you for reading and for your feedback.
