You've done it again...left me wanting to turn the page to the next chapter. I am also wondering how Jeff responded to his wife's promotion, for he seems self-centered and unable to accept any attention other than on him. Good read.

Thank you, dear one, for the exceptional rating. If her promotion meant for money to support him, he was happy for her. Might have been hostility had it been an academy award! That's his territory.

This chapter is lighter than the previous. I guess the good news about Nichole's new job and raise and Jeff's steady work opened up the sun to shine on your family at that time. The ending about Frank's heel spur, I can relate to. I had surgery on both feet for heel spurs and now I'm having terrible pain in both ankle despite physical therapy.

It's a risky operation for sure. We tried to sue the doctor, but all he got was a one thousand dollar fine and had to take some sort of class.

How awful. You can mess with a lot of things with your body but your feet isn't one of them.

I am also beaming in regards to Nichole's promotion. I love it when an employee is recognized for their hard work and talents and are awarded accordingly. So at this time everyone in the family is doing well...until once again you get to that last sentence. Oh Boy! What can come upon you next?

Thanks, Leen. Seems as if it's one problem after another sometimes. But if my children are happy I can deal with anything.

Golly, I would love to make 130k. Teachers are worth that and more, right? There is a lesson in this expose: hardwork does get rewarded.

Ya know these two bits, the one on Jeff and this one on Nichole, really are lessons in contrasts. Talk about opposites. I guess that old adage is true, they do attract, big time.

You said you never discussed why she stuck with her maiden name. Do you know why now or have an idea? Inserting your opinion at that juncture, as you have in other episodes, might have been interesting and revealing. I wonder why some people do that too. One reason is because the woman's career started before the marriage. Another popular thing to do is use a hyphen. My real estate agent was like that..

Nits for you to review:
it suits him well. > capitalize the i in it, as it is the first word in a new sentence.
This sentence is awkward: Rick always followed her speech with a nod to all who made his company voted The Best Place to Work in Los Angeles. > Might read better like this: ...who voted his company The Best Place to Work...

Thanks for the nits. I thought that sentence was awkward too and used your suggestion. Now that we're on better terms, I'll asked Nichole why she kept her name. I did mention my thoughts on the subject -- the mispronunciation of Kuch.

Ya know. I did read that but for some reason it did not register as your opinion. Sorry, must be the fog, I've been under the weather, struck down by the middle school croop... Oh, and the apathy level is so high that my students are killing me with indifference.... Will read more closely next time...

How about the other teachers and their classes? Maybe someone has a secret that works. Hey, ask your students to write an essay to persuade or dissuade you from getting a tattoo or a nose ring? LOL
reply by Donya Quijote on 28-Oct-2015
A sixth grade teacher heard me talking about the apathy, and she said the same in classes every day, five days a week. I guess sometimes it's the group of kids. First group a joy, got going, they learned something, and even had time to sing and dance. Second group, slew me with their indifference. They would even talk loud enough for me hear them over the stupid fan in the room that drones on and on. Let you know about third group later if I get a wee bit of time...

woo hoo, that is one smart woman, not to many people can get to a position like that, and in florida that is a handsome salary to boot.

"Maybe it's because people tend to mispronounce his last name. Is it "Kutch" or "Cock"? Yikes! No, it's "Cook". He includes that information in his bios."-----Oh,. good God! Please, PLEASE, tell me you're joking, Spit. The Germanic spelling of my true last name, Cook, is Kuch, which I use for publication purposes. Perhaps I have more in common with Jeff than I'd like to admit? N-a-a-a-h-h-h-h..., LOL...

Holy greenbacks! One-hundred and thirty-thousand K? Wow, that ain't chicken feed! Jeff's a very lucky guy. Does Nichole have a thing for single, older men?

Just a thought...heh-heh.

Nichole's promotion certainly seemed warranted. The flowers you sent to her office was a very thoughtful gesture. I'm sure she was tickled pink.

I'm not sure how having an operation to remove a bone spur in your hubby's heel sent your lives spinning off in chaos, but I'm sure you'll let us know...

Always with respect

Yeap, I though of you when I wrote this. I'm not kidding. I thought it was Kotch which rhymes with crotch! No way would I want to use that name! I sometimes think that if the right man came along, Nichole would toss Jeff out.
reply by Dean Kuch on 27-Oct-2015
Gimme her address...heh-heh... Just kidding, of course.

She is a beautiful woman, however. Jeff should consider himself very fortunate.

Sounds like Nicole got her well-deserved recognition. She must have put previously unrecognized talents in managing payroll and company policies and procedures. How great that she got her break. It was obviously based on her performance, given some of the things she'd achieved on the job. Too bad Jeff couldn't have turned his attention to other job possibilities if acting wasn't working out for him. Getting older isn't helping either. Great job of mentioning specifics about how Nicole achieved her success. judi

Thanks, Judi. Problem with Jeff is that he has no marketable skills other than doing impressions. Nichole was smart enough to give up her quest when she turned thirty.
reply by judiverse on 27-Oct-2015
You're welcome. That sounds like the reasonable cut-off time. And she had already been considering other options. judi

This is great news about Nichole. I hear a proud mommy bragging. That's just fine with me. ha-ha
With her six figure salary, Jeff will never get a 9-5 job. Let's hope he makes it into the movies or a crazy sitcom.

Nice to see you, hubby and your daughter equally excited over her success . Truly an interesting turn of events yet leaving only the age old question still unanswered: "what does she see in him?"

Hi Shari

A lot of mum in your very pretty daughter. She looks lovely and competent, how pleased you must be for her success in her career. Some women like to be the bread winner and run the household ... of course, it's the fine line between being appreciated and being taken advantage of.

It was exciting reading about Nichole's progress. I was a bit eye-popped with: - thinking, she know, she knows!!

"I make out the seating plan," she confided. "I put Jeff and me at a table with people who I know won't object to him." - I used to make tis kind of compromise, I'd befriend those who wouldn't object, and even thought his crass behaviour was funny... while I by-passed the kind of people I liked to hang out with. I guess it was easier than the embarrassment when it was made obvious they liked me but wouldn't accept him. I really regret that. Though I gradually taught him to be more socially acceptable. His good looks let him get away with a lot with the superficial ... or were they just stupid? The so was I ... I always forgave him. Wish I'd been more forthright back then.

At least Rick values her talents and abilities, and gives her the rewards that go with the praise. Doesn't always happen. Heel surgery ... sound scary. My niece had plantar warts and the doctor injected her into the heel ... it was excruciating for her, only thirteen. Ooops now I'm one of those people who create the scare for the person about to undergo surgery. :) Of course, it's already over and done with ... I hope it was successful. I imagine, I'll find out. A good, entertaining read. Well done. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

You're the first one to mention the point of this post--Nichole does recognize that Jeff would not be acceptable to the people she'd rather sit. That's giving up a lot for your hubby who is oblivious to the fact, I'm sure. Thanks for sharing your story. I guess that's why you could read between the lines.
    Much love,
    Shari
