What a grisly tale! This man is a murderer, and now he is about to shoot his daughter. She is the last to go, one of many. He has shot all the others before her.

Hello Dean

You sure have a way with words. Both in the tender and the horror. Beautifully written tale. Sent the chills down my spine ... what a thing to have to do ... of course best for the daughter ... damn, and only one bullet left. My imagination takes me into the next scene ... terrifying.

"I cradle my daughter's chubby cheeks gently in calloused hands, smiling down at her, hugging her close." .... so gentle and loving.

"Night washes over foul scenarios being played out on the face our once beautiful world, much like an ebony velvet curtain closing on the final performance of an ill-conceived play." ... great descriptive word use.

One wee nit:
" ...played out on the face (of) our..."

Great work. I can't believe it but I'm working on a Tiny Tale of Terror to add to your multi-author book. Your last post inspired me. hehehe! Huge hugs - Lovi xoxo Of course worth a six and I have none left.

Great work with this one. Zombies are not my favorite, but they are scary. I would have put the gun against her head and his head against hers in the hope of it going through both...it was at least worth a try. Great job with this and ominous sound track to go with it too.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

Dean;
-My sincere and heartfelt congratulations for your poem over the month acknowledgment for after reading the poem I could definitely see why. You when does not necessarily surprised me as you are a masterful writer.
-And again like in this writing you have proved to grasp the essence of fear within the reader. The imagery is frightfully expressive And vividly and horrifyingly descriptive.
-Your rhythmic timing throughout your writing helps with the cadence of the reading and makes for a smooth transition between concepts and thoughts.
-You capture the believable in a writing that's mostly fiction and presented in a way that may be accepted as a situation that could happen to anyone. And that is the frightful thing about your writing.
-In this particular writing you have great an animated picture along with a picture that's presented in the beginning all of which are complementary, relative and appropriate for this writing.
-Thank you for sharing and posting and may the good Lord be with you always.
Alex

A frightening story. Comforting a child and tell them their is nothing to fear in thd middle of a death threatening situation. Sparing your daughter by shooting her.

Methinks you have more fun writing the notes than the story. You're a master at setting the stage for a killing, each line pulling the strings tighter. I didn't expect the ending-- then neither did Marissa. LOL

Thanks, Shari, I really appreciate you taking the time to read and comment on this latest edition of Tiny Tales of Terror>. I do enjoy thinking up the epilogue in my author's notes quite a bit. If you've ever seen HBO's Tales From the Crypt series that ran for seven years awhile back, just think Crypt Keeper. Or Google it and you'll see what I mean.

Oh Dean, it is so cruel. As a father he did the only right thing to spare her the agony, poor soul. Oh you are incorrigible. Very well written though. All best. Ulla

Well, this IS the curtain call if the zombies are at the door. That's the kindest thing he could do. Although, come to think of it--if the zombies eat them and they become zombies themselves--don't they live forever? Ummmmm!

hey dean, how sad the choice the father had to make. a great write, an easy read. I spotted one error--will be our last serenade instead of or last serenade. I have to read a happy one now so I can sleep easy, lol

Hey, at least she was spared from a brutal gnashing of teeth. I thought this was a fantastic imagining of a zombie apocalypse. I especially liked the imagery of his callous hands, indicating that it has probably happening for some time now. Thank you for sharing. The sound was a nice touch too :)
