My goodness, Jeff does annoy me. I didn't much care for his performance on the video...a it over the top. Sorry they couldn't fit a visit with Billy into to their busy schedule...really very selfish. As you can tell I still don't much care for Jeff, but I guess it only matters what Nicole thinks of him. Great dialogue in this one.

Whew! I'm glad it's not just me that finds him "over the top."
As for Bobby, he took everything in stride. At least we came to see him every two months.

My son-in-law hates my guts. For years I wasn't even allowed to call my daughter.

That was one of the funniest videos, he is the entire act, and you say he is like that in real life? I didnt even notice the casino or the back round,

THanks so much for the six star rating. Love your comment on the video. Another example of how Jeff dominates the scene. LOL

Hi Shari

OMG ... quite a contrast between your daughter and Jeff. I see what you mean. Maybe love is blind after all. Sixteen years, seems a long time and she must really love him, goodness knows why? I'm nasty ... guess my mother's heart is disappointed for your daughter's choice also. Excellent dialogue. I like the style of this chapter ... seems much lighter than the earlier ones (perhaps you have found considerable cathartic relief from writing this. Sixteen years ...twenty years for me, and I was like your daughter, supporting his business endeavours ... then had three boys and he moved on saying he'd never been happy. So there's still hope for you. A shame Nichole seems to have 'hardened' under the influence of her relationship with Jeff. He does seem 'full-on' and perhaps a handful of needy emotion. She may just be too exhausted for anyone else after having him all day long. Who knows these mysteries of life? Great work Shari. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

a handful of needy emotion. That's what Nichole is finally realizing. She almost divorced him seven years ago, but apparently they reconciled their differences. I hope you are okay with what happened to you.
Yes, it is cathartic to write about it.
    Hugs back,

    Hi Shari

Thank you, I survive as we all do, the best we can... :)). Finding more happiness in life which feels good. It is usually caring, competent women who lose their hearts perhaps in pity of these men who are so needy for attention. I almost divorced mine in earlier days, the little lost puppy act caught me every time. (what a sucker I was).
Well, whatever way it goes, I hope she finds some happiness. Writing it out does provide great release, and others who share their support and kindness make such a difference. I hope you're well and those hives gone. Sorry I've been absent, so difficult to keep up with everyone at the moment ... real life keeps knocking (er, banging) on my door. Sending chocolates and cupcakes. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

Thanks for the yummies. Chocolate keeps up the serotonin levels. Hives long gone, but keep taking Zertec. Lost puppy act. That's good. Nichole was always a sucker for the underdog.

Sounds like Nichole might be up for a good job. Jeff's dancing was funny. I can see why they chose him. But if he's usually like that, well... might get a bit tiresome. I noticed that towards the end of the video his face and neck were flushed, very red. I wonder if this dancing etc. is hard on his heart. How old is he?

As you say, a little bit goes a long way. He was around 36 when he made this and about 30 pounds light that he is today. No heart problems that I know of.

I didn't want to like Jeff, and didn't think the marriage would last, but, dang git, he is charismatic in the video. I like him.

I let go of his fingers. [Very effective internal continuity from the earlier, "I grabbed them."]

Again, again, again, no sixes, dear, but have a virtual five-pointer on me.

Ha, what an interesting chapter, Shari. I got quite a charge out of the video. LOL. If that's Jeff's true character well, say no more, it says it all and then some.

All the complaining they did about the hotel sounds like a young couple I know. They always get one night for free, because they make complaints every time.

Great job with this. I'm still chuckling.

Good God in Heaven. That was the real Jeff... in the video? If my daughter ever marries someone like that, I promise you, he'll turn up missing. The police will eventually get to me--to come to question me about my daughter's wayward husband's disappearance-- while wondering why there are so many freshly dug holes in my back yard.

All of which I'll attribute to plumbing woes and a busted sewer line.

I don't know Jeff personally so I am basing my assessment of him on what my eyes just witnessed in that obnoxious performance, and the narrative and information provided in your stories, of course.

I can't believe Nichole didn't even bother to stop by and visit her cousin, Bobby. I mean, they were right there, how difficult could it have been? It sounds to me as if Jeff had a definite affect on her usual caring nature. I mean, after all, that comment she made, ""Everyone at the reunion was fat!" was pretty mean-spirited.

Spit, where Jeff is concerned, you and Frank have my deepest sympathies...

Cut and dismember. I like it. Actually, Jeff would too. He has a dark sense of humor. I'm surprised at your reaction since he made those ghoulish faces. You should appreciate that-- well, okay, but not a face for a precious daughter.
Appreciate your sympathies. I know from some remarks
Nichole makes, she's not always a happy camper. Thank goodness, she was smart enough not to have children. Probably afraid they would look like him. LOL

Hahaha, believe it or not, Shari, other than my writing I'm pretty laid back, quiet and easy going. I'm also a shy person, in person. I HATE to be the center of attention, it makes me very uncomfortable. Jeff, on the other hand, looks like he hogs the limelight whenever he can, and that is where he and I differ greatly.

All that aside, you are more than welcome.
    ~Dean ;)

Funny you should say that. I loved when my community put on the plays I wrote, but felt uncomfortable with fame itself.

Yep, that's me in a nutshell, Shari. I could never be an actor. But I'd love to write the screenplays, LOL.

That video was hilarious...a wild man. You always end your chapters with such intrigue...a CEO watching your daughter...I am wondering what could it be. I have not been following your chapters because I have been away from FS, but the amazing thing about your writing is I felt like I could take right back up where I left off...that is voice, my friend.

Your daughter may not be so quiet when she's around 'Hoyt Monroe'. Your son-in-law is quite the character. He made me smile. He's really very funny and that 'every man' look seems to be in these days.
I liked you sizing up the visit and was also disappointed that they didn't take the time to visit Bobby. Life isn't all laughs and chuckles. I have a feeling that's why they didn't go. Some people can't take the handicapped. Obviously we know which one that was. I always saw it as a sign of insecurity.

Insecure--good word use and one that Nichole says describes her husband. Nichole is quiet around Jeff. Now, she ignores him much of the time.

You certainly keep the story moving. At least you shared some good times and built some lasting memories with your daughter. Too bad she neglected her cousin, no doubt her husband a too tired to go out of his way.

I especially like the dialog. The banter between you and hubby is well done and fun to read.

Thanks so much for the green neon plus. :-) I often wonder if Jeff was the one who nixed the extra visit. Glad you enjoyed the dialogue. I miss writing plays but chose to focus on bios this year.
