Michael: aren't women just a thing of beauty?? Unless they are crazy and then they can be pretty ugly! Beautiful concoction of words which left me feeling a bit melancholy. Soft Thunder speaking here . . .

Michael,

As I have said before, but not in the same words, great poetry engages the man in his whole response-senses, imagination, emotion and intellect; it does not touch him merely on one or two sides of his nature. Great poetry, such as this work, seeks not merely to entertain the reader, but to bring him, not always with a sense of pure pleasure in its message but with great sentiment and emotional appeal- fresh insights, or renewed insights, and important insights into the nature of human experience. A broader and deeper understanding of life, of his fellow man and of himself is what well written poetry such as this work seeks to accomplish. It is this kind of insight literature which cannot be summed up in a simple lesson..ahh but if written well,,it is knowledge-felt knowledge, new knowledge- of the complexities of human nature and of the tragedies and sufferings, the excitements and the joys, the inspirations whether tasteful or distasteful.. this is what characterizes the human experience. A greatness of a poem is in proportion to the range and intensity of experience that it brings to us. Its amount of life.

With that being said, there are no mechanical tests, or easy yardsticks, or rule of thumb to measure the worth of a work; but shall if suffice to say the final measuring rod can be only the responsiveness, the maturity, the taste and discernment of the cultivated reader.

Your opening, impeccable and drawing, sagacious and soothing, alluring and romantic, a soft gambol of man's inherent desire filled a drawing rhythm, seductive and teasing.

My all time favorite stanza

listen to the oceans roar
powerful her pulse
heartbeats the waves crash

it conveys the intensity of sexuality.

Love the title, the play on words

Okay, well I talk too much friend. I really love this work

Thanks for sharing the "eye candy"! I welcomed the animated "wink" in the first stanza and in the final picture, along with the alliteration of "s's" and "g's". The "hot iron" sizzled for me too. Cheers- Joan
