I had a Dream

Can a dream be resurrected from the ashes of life?

This is a profoundly sad and moving piece. Of course, it is sad because the loss of a loved and loving partner is always profoundly distressing.

But I know for certain that our personal dreams can be resurrected. I believe that one of the concepts that holds back this resurrection is the belief that one is defined by a partnership. Each member of a partnership has his/her own definition. This may be changed and informed to a degree by the realtionship, but the definitions remain personal and individual. Acknowledging this is what can 'can bring beauty out of the ashes of lost dreams'.

Judy,

Your essay is so very honest and transparent. Your ability to convey your
love, grief, change and ultimate hope was done with excellence. I'm sure
your writing gift does minister to many people.

My new husband was also married for 42 years. His wife had passed
away from cancer and I came into his life. One never knows what the
future may hold. I really like your palm tree dreams...I'm right there
with you on that. It just so happens my Dutch man moved to Florida
with me.

Anyway, your piece is outstanding,
Linda

Hi, Judith Ann. I believe this is the first chance I had to read your work. I am impressed by your communication skills.

With your solid foundation of faith and your decision to help other widows through your blog, I think you've found your way to "bring beauty out of the ashes of lost dreams."

Good luck with your writing.

Thank you, Jay Squires. What a wonderful review. I was on FanStory a number of years ago, then my husband died and I was floundering for awhile. I am back at it now and it feels wonderful to be writing again. Thanks again. --Judy

Actually, I wouldn't mind either, but I think I would lean more towards the palm tree and beaches. I hope you get to fullfill your dream even as a single person. There's no reason why not. Just go for it and enjoy it. :)

I became a widow after I had divorced my husband, and found my poetry so there is definitely hope for people to start again. I am so busy in my retirement with editing, writing, travelling, no time to be lonely or bored. Well written piece of prose, good to encourage those in similar circumstances. Faye
