Here we have another sample of your caring heart, my friend. This should be the mercy of all men. This is how they should see through their eyes and their hearts. The rhyming is great, as it all of the poem.
My hat is always off to someone like yourself, who cares for the down and out who needs the help. I know it is doubtful that it would happen, however, if you should ever find yourself in the city of Olympia, of Washington State, U.S.A., you would always be welcome at my home - at any time, day or night. Best wishes my good friend.
Always with respect,

Christ does not discriminate, everyone is welcome, whether Samaritan, leper, prostitute. People should remember that when they disregard the homeless man on the street. Well chosen words and rhyming and excellent message. faye

Let's go and don the garment
of someone else's pain
and share their deepest sorrow
in hope's eternal bane.
You never cease to amaze me with your talent, Roy -
your poems are such a pleasure to read - particularly
the spiritual ones - beautifully written and presented -
all in all, most impressive.

A compassionate poem, it speaks of how it behoves us to recognise the plight of refugees who, with their children , trudge through adverse weather conditions and deprivation to reach a new life.

This is a beautiful poem Roy, true to your usual impeccable form. I enjoyed the read in good abcb rhyme. You support your poem with good informative author notes - not that your poem needs any support. Very well written. Warm regards Dorothy x

Roy, you have put a new slant on the 'Good Samaritan's Story,' for me in this beautifully written poem about serving others. I always knew the Samaritan was a stranger, but never thought about him being my mortal enemy. Thank you, my friend, for giving me new insight into Jesus' command to love your neighbor as yourself.

Let's go and don the garment
of someone else's pain
I lovvve that opening! THere is so much suffering the world today, and no one is really helping those people, like the Christians being slaughtered by ISIS, for one example. Why hasn't the whole world sent troops to stop this??? Humanity is so disappointing... so wrapped up in ME, ME, ME. We're really doomed.

Wow, your poem was intricately and beautifully written. I especially like, "We need your heart's compassion, bring hope not blinding fear." Fear can lead to ignorance and violence, whereas hope can lead to bravery and positive change.

In the Catholic church, yesterday's gospel was from Matthew - Jesus' instructing the man to sell all he had and give to the poor - your poem would have made an excellent homily. I love the phrase "don the garment of someone else's pain" - what a great image to express our call to attend to, and not ignore, the poor. I always look forward to your poetry and extensive author's notes - they would make a great devotional book.
