This is a very well written spiritual poem. The great message of love and compassion
very well presented. Good cadence and rhymes. I also appreciate the notes from Scripture about the story of the good Samaritan. Great job on this.
Blessings,
Anabella

The good Samaritan..a wonderful story about loving your neighbour. I'm so pleased I decided to read it as it was a joy and a delight. A story beautifully told.

This is a great poem about the Good Samaritan. You apply that lesson to events of today to "those souls in far off lands." This is a faith based and fact based poem. It is well rhymed and structured but I appreciate most your message. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, this is a nice outlet for our creativity as mentioned in your prePoem comments. As a Christian, I'm sorry, I did not follow the last stanza of needing to know eternal loss to understand loves purpose.

You mean you don't understand why Jesus cried, "Father why hast thou forsaken me!" Your pretty tough for a Christian! Thank you,q qbqlqessings, Roy.

This is one of the best known stories in the new
testament and one of the most difficult to act out.
I am speaking for myself because I know times that
I failed to do as I knew I should. A wonderful written
poem reminding that Jesus knows when we obey His
teachings and when we turn from them. You embrace
peoples from over the earth which is how we are to
do by those who are now our neighbors next door.

A particularly pertinent poem in these troubled times. I found your words, "don the garment of someone else's pain" a wonderful way of expressing the idea of walking in another man's shoes. A very powerful and much more meaningful way of saying it.

This is an extremely touching poem, well written, and certainly poignant to the reader. It is amazing how Jesus chose the poorest and most needy to love and help them. He knew these were the lost ones, and needed Him most.

The poem has a smooth meter and easy abab rhyme and carries an important message. We need more love and compassion in this world. War and hatred keep us from eternal life. We need to help the innocents of war and bring those we hate or don't understand to be at least accepting of our differences.

Keep writing

Joan

It's very difficult to feel compassion, empathy or sympathy towards those who hate and persecute us. That's just human nature. But Christ commands that we must do so and if we obey, we will be blessed. It goes without saying your poem is well rhymed and wonderfully presented, Roy, as they always are. And while that is important from a critical standpoint, grasping the message here is far more important, I feel.

Matthew 5:38 : 38 You have heard that it was said, 'AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.' 39 But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40 If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. 41 Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.
43 You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.' 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Jesus commands us to be reconcilers, forgivers, and to bless and pray for our enemies. We're to act as intercessors on their behalf because it is the glory of a man to pass over a transgression.

Excellent spiritual poetry, Roy. The cadence is smooth, the rhyming, impeccable, and the message is an all too important one to ignore.

Always with respect

~Dean

Well, once again, you have created a sensational piece of writer's art! This is a fantastic message and the poetic description of this perfect scenario completely formed the valuable lesson from Jesus that many of mankind disregards. Thank you for the refresher! Best wishes to you!
