Go and don the garment...

In hope's eternal bane.

I think writing in an a-b-c-b pattern is hard to do well. Clearly, this poem took some work.
Favorite lines: "Let's go and don the garment/ of someone else's pain"
and "We need the fire of heaven/ to burn illusion's dross"

-- that fire (it seems to me, anyway) is found in the opportunities and struggles we push through to give, to think of someone else first instead of ourselves - even when it is risky, even when it hurts.

Hi Roy,
You know when I wake up everyone morning, I say "Thank you God for this body, this life, my creativity, and for another day. How may I serve you?"
Your poem is excellent, and passes very well the message in which we should spread love and care for the others, particularly those i need, sometimes even those who dislike us.

I liked your poem but I believe you meant do instead of don? first sentence. You very well chose the words through out the poem to encompass a meaning, a profound message...

Well done.

Love your poem. Nice flow and rhythm, it made me happy to read. It wasn't too complicated or too simple... just right. Thanks for sharing.

This is one of my favorite stories in the Bible. Once in Children's church, I had the kids act this out for the main congregation. And I'm glad to see you write a poem about it. However, I think there's a deeper meaning to this poem, and I think it has a lot to do with what's going on in the Middle East, and how we need to remember that they are our neighbors and that we need to show the proper compassion. If that's not it, then, oh, well, at least I enjoyed the story, right?

Take care,
Rhonda

'Don't come with guns and weapons,
and bring aggressions's sneer;
we need your heart's compassion,
bring hope not blinding fear...'

My niece has just gone on a mission trip to Guatamela. This poem speaks to the heart of what she hopes to share while there.

Great job, as always, Roy.

That is a very tough concept, Roy. It is to realize that people are not evil, they are sick and one should pray for the sick. It's a sound practice but a difficult road.

Great message of compassion and unconditional love. If more people loved their "despised" neighbors, the world would be a much happier place!

I very much enjoyed reading your writing, which you probably would've predicted. It is obvious that you write intently and with purpose, leading me to believe you don't need a review to tell you how good it is.
