HI Victor.
Shrinks often become shrinks to understand their own minds--so many of them are crazy, ha ha ha! This is a unique and expressive work, as usual from your pen!
Suggestion:
Well(,) doctor,
Who likes that we're insignificant, our purpose unfathomable? No need for a doc for that...its the human condition! LOL *wink*
Eloquently voiced, with superb word economy and alliteration and consonance of P as well as an apt simile:
We walk upon this planet,
our passing imprint gone
as waves against the rock.
Well voiced--and so true:
Your labels inaccurate,
your summation
omits or retains
as necessary
for an oft biased drawer
already mislabeled.
Pitch perfect closing:
Lay ego aside
and listen,
you say-
I wonder if you
truly understand
the nature of
the mirror.
Brilliant and thought provoking. Bravo!
Warmly, rd

Hi Victor, I hear you! I understand exactly why you question your existence I have done the same! My poem "The River" expresses my frustration. Hope you can find peace!

Hi Victor,
I believe this is the visit to psychiatrist, I agree.
They think they know every body's problems, even
before they ask questions. This lines are very true...

Hi, Victor
_ This is great.
_ It's almost like self-analyzing, and then bam--you come up with a killer ending.
I wonder if you
truly understand
the nature of
the mirror.
_ Enjoyable, thought provoking read. Great job.
Cheers & Blessings

Victor--
I like this though I am not sure I get it. In my reading yu seem to be criticizing the "diagnosis" that we're insignificant:
our purpose unfathomable.
We walk upon this planet,
our passing imprint gone
as waves against the rock.
Not sure what Dr. you are addressing, a shrink suggests him or herself but could be...like Darwin?
Here I am not sure if you mean to say Your label's inaccurate or:
Your labels inaccurate,
Anyway, I like the poem. Short, tough, ironic.

I'm addressing the shrink, his inability to grasp or perhaps it is better phrased-to prioritize my supposed minor psychiatric problem with the greater questions of our exxistence, unable to step outside his training-both for a better diagnosis and could he possibly just try being a human being? How about a weekly shot of empathy prescribed for the doctor? I just hate self-assured diagnosis so quickly. Medically-possibly. Psychiatrically? Hahahaha. Give me a break.

No actually understands the mind these words are very insightful. The doctors follow what they read and learn from books and label us. The understand the teaching not the reality

Yes, this is true. At least partially, and more often than I like. You have understood one of the major premises of the poem. Thank you.

Hello :)
A very interesting and thought provoking piece. I really like this lines.....
We walk upon this planet,
our passing imprint gone
as waves against the rock.
I think nobody likes to be labeled, and very few are completly content with what they see in the mirror. good job!

I do agree we do not like to be laabeledd. It presumes and predisposes one's thinking. And, of course, I believe we are far too complex an animal for a label to be all inclusive. Thank you.

I often think life is a series of incongruities, Victor. Life's debate could go on forever if you think too deeply. It's hard to believe we aren't here to leave at least a footprint of reason, and then you think of Pompeii and you wonder, Giddy

Hmmmm, okay. This is either a doctor , his diagnosis and treatment plan that you don't want to accept or a metaphor for education or both. I'm a gamblin' man, so I am going to roll with doctor. Doctors tend to define us by our ailments , not getting the whole picture- we are stubborn cusses. Lay ego aside- in the mirror, we see ourselves as immortal, not wanting to think about just being a " passing imprint gone/as waves against the rock". I know it is why I never go to the doc- what I don't know won't....knock me for a loop. Soldier on and Don't be defined by the diagnosis. I hope it is about education and that you are doing well. In any case, take care of yourself as best as you can in the manner that you choose.

U are right in that it is both the doctor and education. A necessity to open the mind while it subtly narrows it. Yes, I find this a conundrum. The doctor in this case is specifically, (if you will), a psychiatrist. I feel they often can cause more damage than a bad surgeon. Thank you, Ed.
