I guess many songs have a theme of love where one partner is unfaithful or uncaring, then there is no reason to hold on. Good use of rhyming and well expressed words of a romance that has fizzled. faye

A-ha! Lyrics! (It makes a huge difference)
For me, lyrics allow a certain leeway that you have used quite effectively :-) They allow you to, I don't know, ping-pong I guess, through flashes of meaning. Inviting you to connect the dots not so much linearly, but instinctively :-)
A sad, sad song - with a great refrain line never had much reason to hold on, and a baseline, heart string pluck in the middle there's nothing worse than watching good love die.

Sad set of country of country lyrics, but I guess that is a common theme - loss of love, nothing to hold on for. Do you write music too? I hope you can get your song recorded.
