Again, a well-written story. I am amazed at how you managed to incorporate poetry into the story, almost as characters, really.
I didn't see any typos. I may have to start using the word "smaze."

Sis Cat,

Such a beautiful and well written story.

Study their poetry. Your Mother and Father.. I would love to think their chemistry was absolutely and undeniably there.

Your Father battled his demons and perhaps succumbed at will.

Beautiful work and beautiful poetry.

I apologize for being so late
Jimi

That's all right, Jimi, better late than never. Thank you for your generous, six star review. Yes, there had to have been some chemistry there with my parents. This chemistry survived their marriage and their deaths. Thank you again for your review.

Andre,
Once again... here we are... I meant to comment on the comment you made at the last of the fourth chapter, which you start this chapter with...
"Thanks Mom, for the inspiration"
(this is like my son, when we took him to tour his 'dream' university... Full Sail University, in Winter Park, Florida) He wanted to study game art/computer animation... (he's quite talented/artistic) I remember, after the tour, he turned to his father and said, "Thanks dad, for this opportunity to attend this school, I know how hard you have worked all these years to make this happen." then he turned to me and said, "Thanks mom, for giving me the artistic support, and nurturing the artistic talents you saw in me as a kid... and for passing all your creativity on to me. I wouldn't be here without you." Sons... I do love them. ;)

Anyway... on with the story.

I was touched by your father's obvious detachment from the universe after he lost your mother... lost his soulmate... I know how that feels. In 1992, I lost my dear G'amma AND my mother-in-law, Maxine within two weeks of each other. I also lost my 'religion'. My church didn't stick by me, and I felt there was no 'god' to guide me, yet again... I felt alone and floundering in the universe... I was sunk in a deep depression and I can understand your father's woefulness... his need to find another meaning, one much more concrete than belief in a deity who had NOT answered his prayers. Had not been there to 'save' his marriage... where or not it was his fault... didn't matter, his heart was obviously aching. (at least that's what I can feel so far)

I've never returned to 'religion'... not organized religion, so great was my departure. And believe me, I was a BIG TIME attendee of my church. But when the chips were down... *looks around*... no one was there.

Sometimes, you have to take care of yourself and your heart the only way that works for you at the time.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about your parents and the love and the connection they so obviously shared.

And... to finding out how it affect you and your siblings.

Thanks Andre,
i'm truly glad you're writing this down and it's getting out there.

Well done
Cat

Thank you, I Am Cat, for your insightful review. Speaking from your own experience, you are accurate to describe my father's loss of religion after the divorce. Such things happen. While other reviewers criticized him, you understood where he was coming from. I am glad you know this. Thank you for your review.

I found this a tad confusing. As I don't write poetry I tend not to read it. Anyway well written no mistakes that I could find but to give a true rending I must read the story 'before' Regards MaBaker

Yes, MaBaker, reviewing the middle of a book can be confusing if you have not read the chapters that came before. Thank you for your review.

Just because opposites attract it doesn't mean they should attach.
This is profound,....opposites do attract but it is hard to live together...I do know people who have made it work but it is tough
This is a profound piece of writing
God bless

Yes, kiwijenny, making a relationship work is hard for people who are opposites. This revelation came to me while driving through the haze of wildfires. I am glad my parents stayed together long enough for me to be born. Thanks for your review.

What a legacy you have been given. Poetry from both of your parents. I envy you being able to trace their connection and disconnect as well as the way their poetry relates to the end of their lives. You have been able to balance their works and you are so fair to both of them. I haven't read previous chapters but I will try to do that.

Excellent photo that complements your chapter perfectly. I seem to remember that I saw one earlier chapter and missed the next ones. It is a great story about both your parents dying shortly after each other. They both wrote poetry, in this your father's poetry.

Thank you, robina1978, for your encouraging review. Yes, my parents revealed a lot about themselves and their marriage through the poetry they left behind.

This work has reached the exceptional level

A wonderful and poignant story of a couples union through a poem of romance and belief in God to the ending in divorce explained through the father's eyes who views the creation of the universe and love from a purely scientific point. His son pursues an explanation of his parent's lost love through their poetry and pieces together the different points of view which lead to their ultimate separation. Well written with an excellent use of poetry to examine the mystery of the human race which seperates not only couples but mystifys the human race to this day!

Yes, Lesley, years ago I thought the poems were similar. It was only when I took a closer look at my father's wording did I realize that the poems opposed one another. That "P.S. In Retrospect" in which my father searches for his soul mate (written a year and a half after the divorce) clinched the poem's wider significance for me. Thank you for your generous, six star review of this poetry mystery.

this is an excellent write, sis cat, you did an excellent job writing this chapter where the poetry of your parents' marriage brought you to tears as you sought to find answers through their words
