That mountain range is outstanding and the poem reflects your passionate admiration of the scenery. Bai was a great poet and a drunk. His poetry was magnificent, that's a great tribute to him too. Well done, Tom.

I love the many aspects of this, the details in both the poetry and its complement. I love that it makes me want to go, see such majestic views, and explore it historic depth.
The Yahoo image sets off your theme too, and colouring of background and text.
Once again congratulations. And a six from me! Maureen*&*

Well at least you are consistent in regarding the word poem as having only one syllable - you do it twice here! lol. No volta for me to hunt this time just time to appreciate a great piece of history.

The sixty thousand steps carved in its side ... sixty thousand? Wow!
Twenty thousand poems ... hyperbole, or for real?
Enjoyed, Tom. A great "National Geographic" sort of piece.

Stank you Sonali. Yes, 20,000 for real, and counting.

Nice sonnet Tom. Beautiful Picture. I learn something every day and today you are the teacher. That story is interesting, especially about the steps being carved in the mountain.
I wonder what slaves were forced to do that? I huge task just as the Great Wall was. The Chinese are amazing people.
Well done. Nancy

You maintained a great scheme even rhyming with Chinese - not easy to do.
Your wonderful imagery allows me to see this beautiful place.

This is simply an excellent heroic sonnet
The rhymes are exact in abab pattern
and the meter is consistent
Nice work getting a line like "gained fame -747 AD." in there
and all the names like Huangshan
The influence of poetry,
Li Bai bringing attention to the area through his poems
Excellent picture to match the excellent poem
Very well done

Thank you for all the details about Huangshan--I didn't realize Li Bai brought the area fame so long ago. Your Heroic Sonnet does it justice, especially with the extra stanza/rhymed couplet. I enjoyed the parallel yellow color in the photograph and your presentation. Your "twenty thousand" and one poem is much appreciated! Hope your new week continues to be productive- Joan

Thank you Robyn. I haven't been there, but I'd like to, too.
Comment from Sandra du Plessis
Like this sonnet. It seem difficult but plausible, if you use a good subject. I love the landscape of the Huangshan, the background story is also interesting. I'm a landscape fanatic and seldom not like a landscape.
