Ha! That's all I can say really. Clever and intellectual with the cut of satire that I enjoy with you. The kind that I worry goes right over many people's heads. I appreciate this though, I can almost imagine it being said with a wry smile... or even better, a straight face, but here are some thoughts that tumbled from me once I stopped giggling.

Sometimes I'd want to say, men define women in society, and in that definition, true or otherwise, they tend to do it in a way that paints a patriarchy in a more sensible, or reliable, or stronger light. The nature of getting to be the one making definitions, I suppose.

The other thought I had. I've occasionally pondered, at this point, my little girl might have a little more freedom outside the gender stereo typing... as she can play with whatever she likes and I won't get much lashback for it ... cars and dinosaurs ... have at it... dresses and fingernail polish, sure... ninja turtle t-shirt and spiderman shoes today ... no problem. But could I have let a boy play with dolls with as much a shrug from my neighbors? Let him use his cousin's hand-me-down pink Dora shoes and Princess T-shirt? Probably not without some horrified grandparents.

200 words or less!

On the first point, I think you're right.

On the second, I also agree. I have to say as a kid, I enjoyed playing as much with the girls in the street in their cubby houses holding tea parties for their dolls as I did going to the park with the boys and kicking a football around, or play wrestling in the back yard. I think the other little boys probably thought me weird -- 50 years or so later, and they still do :)

I thought my offering would miss the mark with a lot of people, but thankfully there are a few who share my warped outlook enough to appreciate it. Thanks so much, Turtle.

    Craig.

You made me laugh. I am not sure I agree with you conclusion though. I've overheard many a conversation between men that starts with "Well, you know women, they all..."
And then again, you contradict your own statement within the statement itself. Love it.

I'm certain I don't agree with my conclusion...

Thanks for getting a laugh from my little offering, mission accomplished!

    Much appreciated,
    Craig.

lol, Except that you just did. I saw this contest and thought it
very... pointless... mostly because it's difficult to tie down an entire 'sexual
orientation', or race, or even a species like that.
That all or nothing thing that has doctors and any other
label makers putting labels on people just because of their
'whatevers'... well... yeah, you know the rest.
I found it interesting to find you in the midst of all this.
(of course, i only found it because I came to your profile
page looking to see your work) ;)

But... you do have a sense of humor above all else.
But you forgot... wasn't it men who grouped women (especially
ones who are having a bad day) together and called them 'bitches"?
;)
yeah... thought so. lol

Good luck in the contest (I'm assuming it's still open)
WEll, I think you'll do very well... at least in my eyes...
less than a dozen words or almost 200? hmmm... ;)

Huh? oh, there it is. That's it? Well that was so short and sweet! LOL. Good point too.
And I don't mind the word economy. Best to you in the contest with this very short entry.
Blessings,
Anabella

Just having a bit of fun, not meant to be taken seriously on any level. Thanks for taking the time to review :)

Short and sweet this poem contains a whole lot of truth to it. Women do seem to spend an exacting amount of time in sterotyping.
