What a pleasant read. It seems that after all the turmoil you found some peace, even found hubby something meaningful to do though retired.
A turkey neck, now that is a description, one that needs no picture or video. Is what I got to look forward too? I must be the only person on the planet who can walk into a bar or put my photo on a dating site and not get noticed. Invisibility is a blessing and a curse.
Didn't notice any spag or other issues. I'm guessing I am arriving late again to this chapter. I get the feeling this story is winding down. Is it?

Correct Diane. I figure two more chapters should do it. Fortunately not everyone gets a turkey neck. Dye your hair neon green and wear purple lipstick and earrings. You'll get noticed. LOL

A silver-lining, you found something for Frank to occupy his time with, ha, ha. Somehow, I can image Frank as the Substitute, as in the B-grade movie, ha, ha. Good chapter and it seems as if things in your life slowed down and gained a little more balance. Curious, how these things seem to happen all at once, then taper off. Good stuff there, Spitfire.

About two more chapters to go with one big emotional scene still to come. Thanks for following.

Poor Lyle Loveit, everyone said the same thing, that he was homely, he looked exactly like someone in my writing group. Your sister doesn't waste time.

Neither did Norm, if you ask me. He hadn't been a widow that long.

This was a well written chapter. Working with youth in detention must be a difficult job. Good people are needed to do that sort of thing.
Your chapter ended with:
The year 2003 brought good news to Nichole too. Jeff remained the only one not touched by luck.
My immediate thought was: What sort of luck? If Nichole was pleased because he had not been touched by bad luck, then it seems a bit of an odd way to say it. That's the only niggle--all else--great.

Thanks, Nichole. I'll take another look at it to see if I can make it clearer.
