I know what you mean by turkey neck, excellent vivid description. Your sister's husband sounds like he has a fascinating job with all the travel to exotic countries. Your husband's mentoring is wonderful and a productive volunteer job for him.

Hi Shari ....

Giving Frank an opportunity to talk ... how can you go wrong with that??!! I'll have to check out that wrist-hold thing!

I love the casual manner in which this episode was written ... there was but a tiny a hint of tension (wish she'd call and talk to me ...). Ninety-nine percent of this was about fun and pleasure, rather than heartbreak and drama. It's a nice change for just a bit.

Enjoyed it a lot! Best to you & Frank ....

Alan

My pleasure! But it will be so disapointing for me when this ends ... but I know it has to at somne point. This has been one of my very favorite reads of the past few years!

Best to you & Frank ...

What a compliment! Fortunately, everything gets smoothed out except there's still a n--- in the woodpile. Remember that political incorrect saying?

I enjoyed all the tibbits and advancement going on in the life of you and your husband. After all the drama that started with your daughter's wedding, it's time to have a steady pace in life. This allows surprises to enter like the birth of Chris wife and the turkey neck husband of your sister. This chapter carried a much needed light weight to it.

Hi. I am enjoying your life:-)
Frank sounds like a keeper, I wish he had been around in my time...though I do know how to get out of a wrist lock, wish I didn't...it came at a cost...
now then...we just gotta get Jeff sorted.

Uh, oh. Someone thought he had you. Hope you didn't break anything. I found the answer under google images browsing under wristlock.

i fight dirty...go low and swing then step on the feet...if that don't work go low get closed and head but...falling always seems to surprise the the person..and from there...well, bob's your Uncle...but it all hurts...maybe not as much as being caught and what could come next....just saing...guess i got me a bit of checkered past:-)

Hi Shari, It's nice to see you incorporating Frank's expertise into this book.

Oh, God, I can't stand looking at turkey necks either, LOL.

Take a look at the spacing in the last pg. after "The same year" Hugs, Lou

Yikes! That's what I get for making changes late at night. Turkey necks are creepy, but I read there are exercises to help.
    Hope I never get one!

David had an aunt with a gross turkey neck. She's dead now and so I don't have to look at it. Aren't I awful!!!

Wonder if the embalmers wrapped her neck in a scarf for the viewing. LOL

I must admit, turkey necks don't do it for me either. Teeth are important too, but only because my late husband had beautiful teeth as a result of a lifetime of excellent dental hygiene. Aged 63, he also had a full head of hair, so he's a hard act to follow! Obviously Barbara liked Norm for some reason, or I assume she wouldn't have married him. As they say, each to their own!

Interesting. The concept of "Life goes on" is evident in this delightful chapter. So happy that Frank found a way to fulfill his days and you seem so much happier.Very well written giving the reader a smoother ride in the carriage of your life and leaving just enough intrigue to peak added interest.

So you keep trying to make a friend of Barbara the Bitch. I would've disowned her long ago. You're way too nice. :)

And what's Nichole's news, I wonder... ?

As for old-man-Norm, I'm ten years older than my hubby. Lately, since I've been using a wheelchair and oxygen tanks when he takes me to doctor appointments, the nurses have been referring to him as my son! LOL! We both laugh about it. True love doesn't care about superficial things like good looks. It sees past that to "something" that no one else might understand. Hooray for love! :)

Glad you have a sense of humor about your predicament. A sense of humor is what keeps a marriage alive and well.

I enjoyed your chapter, Shari. I think it's great you found Frank a place where he could use his skills and it benefit kids...and you. Your description of Norm is great, and you must have been glad to be a grandma. Did they live close to you?

Karyn :-)

So many come from bad homes often with a mentally ill or violent parent(.)?"

He's also a widow.(widower) His wife died of cancer

I found out later [that] Norm was ten years older

Still, Mom would have been pleased [that] Barbara had found someone

Thanks, Karyn, for your able editing. I forgot about "that" being superfluous in many cases. Whoops on the widower. My bad.
My son lives 50 miles from me and he's the one who is full of hugs to share. :-)

Oh, I'm glad he's so close! I hear about grandparents being across the country from each other, and I can't imagine how sad it would be.

I made some corrections, Karyn. Thanks for spotting them. My son and his family are a fifty minute drive from here. :-)

Yeap, the title makes one feel old! Frank's health and mind eventually stopped him from mentoring about four years ago. He wants so much to go back, but is tired all the time. I worry about him which means means stress again. My writing has slowed down.

It is tough when our mind wants one thing but our bodies say no no. We just have to take a day at a time and seek joy in what we can still do. Hugs!

I'm so grateful Chris loves Florida and his wife does too. Her parents live 15 minutes from us, so we all get together several times a year.
