Good AABB rhyming in your poem. Lately, folk are trying to deceive with kindness' face. I particularly liked the last line 'then in joy's well-spring you will soak. Not so easy to forgive these days, so much anger and hate.

This is a wonderful lesson for everyone to read and absorb. I often think, while watching the sad stories on the news, what a difference the Golden Rule could make in this pitiful world, if everyone would just heed it. You've said it so well in these wonderfully rhymed and rhythmic verses. I would change the punctuation slightly, but not a bit of the meaningful words.

***how would we know? there'd be no trace. (Capitalize There'd because you're starting a new sentence here.)
***They've disappeared those golden words, (Insert comma after disappeared and a period after words.)
***to honour people seems absurd. (Capitalize To, if changing line above.)
***can thoughts of self, the dark restrain? (Capitalize Can)

This is just marvelous in so many ways, Roy. A few minor fixes and it is a six. Nicely done.

Between the iambic heptameter and the sterling message on staying the course I find this to be a much needed and well-delivered work.

In our lives we encounter many fears but we can learn from it, be saved. If life was easy we wouldn't know how precious it is. If you are kind to others you will be happy. Good job!

Oh, my! How I agree! We shove old folks aside like George did in the Seinfield 'fire' episode, and young people are convinced they know all. Sing on, troubadour!

Rhyming couplets paired into quatrains, with sound doctrine and meter, another
faith poem easy to read and understand. A soothing sound in this tormented world.

Luke 10:27 "He answered, "you shall love The Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."
That is absolutely what we should do. If we could there would be no war. The world would be a wonderful place.Nice poem Roy. Have a nice day! :<) Nancy

Excellent words we all should live by, but, sadly don't. Lovely poem with a strong and important message. I enjoyed this one very much and especially like the illustration you picked for this one.
