Very well stated poem. The words are in harmony and the message is clear. If we all live by the Word the world would be in a better place. Thank you for sharing.

You are a very wise and write you poetry so that everyone can understand and benefit from your philosophy.

'For if one's skies were always blue-
how could we read the false from true?/
Why do we think new wisdoms reign?
Can thoughts of self, the dark restrain?

I love your poem, the rhyming, the questions, the message, and the image you selected. This is an excellent work of art! Even though it's a sad observation, my favorite part is the third stanza about those golden words disappearing. Very well crafted and insightful!

A wonderful title for a poem that examines the dichotomy that is life. I found the following lines both interesting and thought provoking:
Why do we think new wisdoms reign?
Can thoughts of self, the dark restrain?

Hell Roy,
your thoughts of how to treat our neighbors with brotherly love is certainly well expressed I like this

one the best--

The Bible says put others first;
Lord Jesus one, then you'll not thirst.
With kindness, goodness, bless all folk,
then in joy's well-spring you will soak.

A well penned and thought provoking poem. It does not preach but leads gently. I look forward to reading more of your work

Hi, Roy. Wonderful poetry as is your usual work. I especially liked this stanza:

"They've disappeared, those golden words-
to honour people seems absurd.
Why do we think new wisdoms reign?
Can thoughts of self, the dark restrain?"

Blesings, my friend. Bob

This work has reached the exceptional level

Beautifully written poem backed up with the best precedents ever given to mankind! The concluding stanza tells all truth, "The Bible says put others first, Lord Jesus one...."! Then we know for a fact that we'll not thirst. Those golden words haven't disappeared from a lot of households, we just need to be more vocal. :). Great poem, I thoroughly enjoyed the read! :)

These are certainly words of wisdom. Many people, especially the young, certainly don't honor others. The disrespect shown police and teachers in the public schools is terrible. If they have no foundation, they don't know any other way to behave. There is more joy in treating others with kindness and goodness, as you write. And people may return the favor! Excellent expression in this, and I admire your AABB rhyme. It really works well. judi
