What a wonderful, fun, gallivanting, self-effacing, life-loving, romp of a poem. I see this was posted seven years ago! You must have some more these gems up your sleeve! Please post! Thanks again.

Thank you. That was one of my few attempts at writing poetry. I had actually forgotten about it. Glad you liked it.

Eat right, exercise daily and wonder if you're aging normal when the mirror shows you otherwise. I understand. I sympathize and cry with you. I'm shocked that you can talk so openly about the process. Good flow of words. Relatable topic. Good repeat words with rhymes. Great work. Good luck in the contest. Regardless, you're always a winner :)

Thank you. Oh my goodness, you went way back to find this writing. I don't do poetry anymore, I prefer to write prose. I do remember writing it, though.

It's with mine...they escaped
But you know they left me my mind...well occasionally that appears to be missing too. Suppose we just have to muddle through. Good thing our eyes are going or we couldn't stand it
God bless

Thank you. Yep, we just have to live with these changes and be glad we are alive to see them. Even if some are not for the best.

I enjoyed your poem about our aging bodies. I guess our bikini days are finished. Photo is beautiful (I know it isn't you by your author's note). You're right about needing our body to enjoy life. Got to keep in the best shape we can at any age.

Thank you. That picture is of my best friends mother taken in the 1940s. I remember her as a child, she was a very beautiful woman. I was always kind of in awe of her. I wasn't even born and neither was my best friend when that picture was taken.

I found your poem very amusing and reckon most of us over the hillers (my words) know just what you mean. There is no holding back the tide, just the need to learn acceptance or get a gym membership. Well written and very amusing.

For not being into poetry stuff this is not bad and I can identify with your sentiments, although I still wear a bikini ( at 62) and shorts bit have to pack it in a bit more ha ha. A good poem I enjoyed reading this and had a smile too Cheers Christine

Thank you. I still wear shorts at 70 but am not brave enough for a bikini

Don't worry, it happens to everyone, something comes along in the middle og the night and swaps it for the one they don't want. Sounds like it'll be your turn soon to go on the prowl.

Thank you for the kind reviewThank you. I wrote that poem after taking a shower last night and looking in the mirror. I am truly grateful that my body still works good and is healthy at age 70

At 74 I'm reasonably happy with what I've got, but soon who knows!

Hello Mystery Poet

I guess many of us can ask this question and relate to many of your past attributes. lol At least some of us can have a sense of humour about it. 'Alive and kicking', I guess that's what really counts, and whether we enjoyed every stage of our body's life be-in-it. :))) I love the image you've selected to complement the message in your poem.

A prose writer dabbling in the poetry world, or perhaps a newbie, new to it all. I think you've done very well. A good technique used well in your refrain line. You've also done well with rhyme and rhythm. A lament with a sense of humour. Hahahaha! A fun read, I really enjoyed.

A fun entry, and keep on hanging in there. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Hugs - Lovinia xoxox

You have done well. I like the repetition at the end of each stanza. The descriptions are good and the"what you used to wear" list is well done. Picture adds to the meaning of your words. Good job!

Thank you for your kind review. I am not much of a poetry writer, but I enjoy reading good poetry. This was just a spur of the moment thing.

I HAVE to tell you -- before I EVER began reading your piece, I was in love with the title! Fabulous!!!!

Though there were a few issues:
--> the fact that it rhymed in some places and didn't in others -- which made me stop reading and go back to see if I had missed something--
--> the fact that some of your sentences, especially toward the bottom were a bit longer than the others, and lost some of the 'jauntiness' --
--> the fact that you repeated yourself --

In spite of these little things, I can EASILY see a true poet here. Coming up with these BRILLIANT ideas is the hard part. Tweaking the finished product is not! I am impressed. I would suggest some editing when you are ready (and WHEN, and IF, YOU and only YOU, think it's appropriate.)

Thanks so much for sharing this, and I look forward to many more. Much luck in this contest!

Thank you. As I said, I am not much into poetry. This was just a spur of the moment thing. I looked in the mirror and said eek, then went and wrote this poem
