This author acrostic about Oscar Wilde is a concise mini biography of the author. The Picture of Dorian Grey is one of my favorite stories. Nice choice of authors.

I enjoyed reading your poem and thank you for sharing, because I did not know much about him. It sounds like he was a very interesting, worldly man that lived exactly the way he wanted regardless of the consequences. I think you did a wonderful job expressing who he was as a man and an author.

I liked your poem about Oscar Wilde as it is most informative. I knew a little of his private life, but having grown up in England, I only ever heard words of praise and his plays were immensely popular. They were always on in the West End-Importance of Being Earnest was my favourite. Good use of rhyming, it is important to write about our beloved authors and poets, to preserve their name for posterity. Good luck in the contest. Faye

What a great subject for an acrostic! Thank you for Wilde's quote, which explains his philosophy well. I admired your weaving his history with the form and your rhymes. Well done! Best wishes in the contest- Joan

A deeply effective author acrostic which summarized the accomplishments and tragedy of one of our greatest writers in the 19th century. You are right that he is not remembered for his literary accomplishments today. His personality and his imprisonment are what remain in people's imagination today.

I have read a half dozen entries in this contest so far. I found yours to be the driest, because you simply recount the facts of his life as if from a Wikipedia entry. Other contestants imitated the writing style and/or personality of their acrostic poet authors. This gives me a better sense of these literary personalities than a dry recitation of born-here-died-there facts. This is not a grammar school book report, but a poetic tribute to the poets and writers who inspired us and the world.

Thank you for sharing. I wish you success in the contest.

Extremely well written piece about Oscar Wilde. Together with good author notes, this is well worth reading. I enjoyed reading what he said about himself in prison. Comma after 'acclaimed' in line 2. Also after 'Academic' in line 4. A very good acrostic and Good Luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothyx

This is a great history lesson my friend. The law put a lot of people in prison for being who they are back in those days. Thank god the law has changed. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

Oscar Wilde is one of my very favorite writers. His wit is peerless and he casts a gigantic shadow. I think one of the things I admire about him is his rebellious streak. Anyway, You have penned an excellent acrostic. Through your words, the reader can get a very clear view of Oscar Wilde.
Best of luck in the contest.
Blessings, Linda
