This is stunning...You speak superbly of
one's youthful dreams as opposed to
the wealth of understandings acquired by
listening to God's word and stumbling
while finding ourselves the ability to
to carry our owe with His help. Meter,
rhyme and rhythm all perfection.

I am probably foolish to critique a poet with so much integrity on this website. I am new to all this. But I am appreciative of one who is aging as I am. (I turn 70 this week.) I would like to think that I, as you, have learned what is important and what is important really. I am a free verse writer, but I wish I could express in rhyme what you gave to me in this poem. Thank you. -Bill Stephenson

Reflective and philosophical in its approach , this poem gives us some adequate food for thought as we move through our earthly lives and separate the wheat from the chaff as it were

Good for you for saying "Age becomes me." So many try to deny age and do all manner of things to try to stave off aging. You show that age has brought experience and knowledge so you will not repeat past mistakes. Finding contentment makes aging worthwhile. Excellent AABB rhyme, and the flow is excellent. Love the closing, "To gain this world but lose my soul/it's only love that makes one whole." Excellent work. judi

You're very welcome. Age surely is becoming. We have several over-sixty candidates in the presidential race. judi

Excellent Poem! I found the author's words beautiful, soulful and filled with meaning. The poem flows and connects well. The author words were thought provoking and left me with an image of God's love.

Hi,
What a wonderful poem, and I can identify with so much of what you have inferred here.

Youth is an experimental stage in life...with so much left to learn.
some call me old, that may be true...but

"My life's content as is my soul"

It took me years as wisdom grew, to know that dreams just don't come true.
Yet fires of hope, God sent to me, did bring me joy, and dangers few

What a Blessing age can be, I'm so glad that some do see, not only me.

This was such a meaningful poem, with the truth written within its words.

and so... "Age becomes me"..."My life's content as is my soul"

Thanks so very much for this poem of inspiration, it was my pleasure reading.

Blessings,
Victoria

Beautiful, and elegantly put. I'm at that point in my life where I'm looking hard at who I have become and how far I have to go. I guess in reality we continue to seek out new ways to please God and are forever assessing our lives. If we didn't we wouldn't have any reason to be here.

Once again great poem.

This is such a beautifully written poem about being content and especially knowing where your soul is headed.
Nice lines here:
"The path ahead draws near my goal
My life's content as is my soul. "
I also love these lines:
Celestial river, so deep the flow,
It feeds my soul my spirit's glow,
This fire within cannot be quenched,
Nor feet be moved, from God be wrenched.
Great message.
Blessings,
Anabella

If I could measure, define success,
I'd be a fool, in fact transgress,
To gain this world but lose my soul
It's only love that makes one whole.

a lovely poem, Roy, rather soft and soothing -
to feel content is an amazing thing - all is
right with your life and family - what more
could a man want when he has the combination
of love and contentment!!

This is a delightful piece of poetry dear Roy! I love the positive attitude and the philosophical sentiment! Age brings wisdom and knowledge. You're really quite stupid when you are young.
Thank you for sharing!
Blessings!
