What a way to deal with emotions especially when one is unfairly treated. I think Ellen was smartly stating that you are the lesser person to treat the way she did without the school losing out. Too bad.
Nicely done chapter.

She did subtly imply that, Ola. Sorry I haven't been following you lately. Writing a book takes up a lot of time!

I'm seeing a whole new side of Spitfire, the woman I once feared just because of her name. :) It's good to see this very human side of you and a tribute to your honesty to share it with your readers. God bless you, Shari. (CK, fighting the urge to use an exclamation point) :)

Again, thanks for the uplifting six. I'm about to learn some very important lessons about life. Wow--no exclamation point.
    What strength. What courage.

Oh, Shari, it seemed so unfair you lost the Honor classes. It's nice Frank wanted to be your Knight, but it's good he respected your wishes. A couple of things to look over...

"Time doesn't stop for anymore.(anyone?)

Driving home, I prided myself that I didn't break down (Sounds awkward to my ear. May I Suggest...I took pride in myself I didn't break down?)

And I can't do that?(")

Would you like something a drink?(delete quote)" Water?

Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Thanks for catching the spags. I found a couple spacing problems when I went back to edit after your kind review.

This sounds so unfair. Art seems to have used blackmail and dictated his own terms. Did you try appealing to someone higher, such as the superintendent? Or tried to find a way you could use some blackmail? If Art was that young and handsome, he surely had a few skeletons. It doesn't seem to me that you had a mental health issue. It was righteous anger. Ellen seemed to throw in that remark about taking exam just after her sister committed suicide to get you sidetracked. Very absorbing. I'll be eager to find out how things develop. judi

I suspect the memorial service and wake took more out of me than I realized. Not much spirit left to fight.

Time doesn't stop for anymore (anyone)? All piggy eyes sounds like such a douche, but then anyone in management is a douche. I think there is a factory somewhere that stamps them out by the gross. Good chapter.

You sound like my hubby. If I meet a man who used to be in the high ranking positions, I avoid him at all costs. Boring and too full of ego.

This is wonderfully written! I like "piggy eyes" less and less since it seems like she trades off quality teaching for a path of least resistance - squeaky wheels get what they want as she plows right over the fertile field that has been giving for years. I thought the outside help a very wise move since hubby is much to close to the situation to be useful. I especially liked the focus on the oil painting to help calm down as I often do that - count tiles, leaves, feathers LOL anything to distract my mind and produce a meditative state. Nicely done and I thank you very much for sharing it.

Thanks, Mystic. I got creative with that painting although I'm sure she had some pictures on her wall. I do play counting games though in the doctor's and the dentist's office. :-)

"I already liked her, just for being attractive and dressing professionally in a cream silk blouse and a brown tailored skirt.".........First impressions are everything, aren't they, Shari? That's why I rarely make a good one myself in my Levis, Grim Reaper t-shirts, earring, and combat boots, heh-heh... But, I'm also a firm believer in not judging a book by it's cover. I've read some pretty sh!tty novels which sported great cover art, if you catch my drift?

What the...!!! You selected water as your beverage after being offered free coffee?

Oh, you truly are a sick woman, Spit... ha-ha-ha!!!

Holy Hades, this Yvette has pastoral paintings featuring sheep! Good God, what doe she do with people suffering from Ovinaphobia, or the irrational fear of sheep?!? It's one of the main reasons I get no sleep. Remember, the cowardly Lion in the classic film, The Wizard of Oz, was also afraid of 'em.

Have mercy... LOL.

If I drink coffee, I get the shakes and that wouldn't do. As for the painting, I admit to that being "creative" non-fiction.LOL
Who but you would connect it with Ovinaphobia. So you have something in common with the cowardly lion. Hair on your chest too? :-)

Oh, absolutely. I would have to shave or wax otherwise, and that just wouldn't do!

It's very different here in the UK. If you have a disagreement with a work colleague and end up stressed out your tree, then tough, you're on your own. When it happened to me I took them to tribunal which cost the company I worked for thousands, but for the first month I was crying all the time because I was so upset. I wish I'd had someone to talk too apart from my friends and family, but for some reason we rarely use psychologists. I can only assume it's because all health care is free, so they don't want to pay out any more than necessary. They just hand out tons of pills instead. (also free in Scotland!)
I look forward to reading on.

Sounds like a story worth writing about. Those pills are placebos, I'll bet.

This couldn't have been an easy chapter to write, Shari. Yet write it you did--and quite well. I regret I don't have a 6 to give you for it. Nothing has changed since I rejoined FS. I can't keep my 6's past the beginning of the week. Yours is really good and deserving.

Sorry, Shari

You take us through quite a range of emotions in this chapter. Your skillful development of the characters makes them real. I can see why Frank wants to punch the principal and wouldn't blame him for an instant if he did. Your professional use of dialog makes it flow and sound natural. It would be a good example for others to follow.

I like that you plucked up the courage to face Ellen. Hey, you face teenagers every day, she couldn't be much tougher. I think she used some dirty tricks considering your recent loss. So just asking for the honors class was enough and Arthur didn't have to earn it by heading up something else first, especially since she admitted you were doing a great job and the students loved you. It seems like he should have had to pay some dues before having it handed to him. And she sounds selfish to not give up her class just because she didn't want to. Yes, the advantage of being in charge. Sheesh.

Great job describing the visit to Yvette. There are those times when tears say so much more than words can.

Thanks so much, w.j. for the exceptional rating. Art didn't pay his dues, you're right about that. Ellen taught basic classes for ten years before our dept. head back them gave her twelfth grade honors. You'll be surprised at some things that happen next as the school system made some big changes.
