Art classes -that's an elective chosen--students should want to learn. However, where I taught Art and drama were dumping grounds for kids who didn't know where to go. Sigh...

Some of the kids were wonderful...but some were dumped as I was the only elective at the time..I loved them but man they made it difficult

Wow, just what you needed after the heartbreak of your Mom's death and the stress dealing with "the ladies" in your life. I look forward to the why piggy eyes did what she did.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Damn, I hate it when the writer leaves me hanging. I am more like your husband, hiring a hit-man sounded pretty good to me. I love how you are presenting this story. You have me hanging on every word. I do hope I don't have to wait too long to find out what Ellen has to say.

All right! Although I know your passive character is the correct way to go, I've longed to see your spirited attitude rear up. I know you're a straight-forward person from your writing. Now I might see it come boiling to the top. However, you also seem a lot like Marcia. She bides her time and then strikes in a way that is felt, but no fault can be put on her. I admire that way also.

I really enjoyed this chapter. It is exciting and true to life. I could feel your frustration and anger. I could understand Frank's anger also. I am looking forward to the next chapter so much. I can't wait. Whether it's passive or aggressive, I'm sure it will be good. Best wishes, my good friend.

Always with respect,

Over the years I have learned how to be assertive without being aggressive. There's a big difference. Frank is aggressive. Thanks so much for the six.

Both my children take the path of least resistance. Maybe it's hereditary???

No wonder you were angry. Having the honors students taken away and then to have the Intensive Reading class, and last period of the day at that, would have been too much. Frank's approach wouldn't have done you much good, probably, although you wouldn't have had much to lose as a tenured teacher. Usually seniority counts for something in those class assignments. I'll certainly be interested in the outcome of your meeting with department head. judi

No, they couldn't fire me, but they can give you the worst assignments and extra duty. The ball's definitely not in my park!

It sounds like you did get the worse possible assignment. Hope you found a way out. judi

Very good, I liked the mature approach you had when dealing with someone you disliked so much, Franks conversation helped with the perspective, he certainly comes in handy.

On occasion, his aggression does get things done. But this wasn't the place or time.

This is really well written. Technically sound as there is no SPAG to be had. I really enjoy the way you are handling the internal conflict with this character. Something really precious to her has been taken away, yet fighting rarely changes anything when you are in a subordinate posture; but there is a point at which when turning the other cheek creates permanent whiplash. The dialog is excellent and keeps the reader involved. I love the descriptions, especially "piggy eyes" - I know a few of those LOL. Well done and I thank you very much for sharing it.

Thanks, Mystic, for commenting on the internal conflict. You realize what Frank doesn't. I am in a subordinate position and the forces to be can make your job hell if they want too.

They can, but only if we decide to be a victim - I prefer to take responsibility and from what I have read of your work - YOU do to. Life is a chess game so learn to play it better and the rewards become limitless.

This must be good because I got angry just reading it. I want to take a baseball bat to her stupid head. LOL! What a terrible thing to do for personal reasons! :)

I'm afraid you'd break that bat. Two years later, I do get some justice.

Well, once you got the pluck to confront your supervisor, you cut right to the chase. That's the best way, of course, but I think you and I have a lot in common. I'm extremely non -confrontational.

Another fine chapter, Shari. I can't wait to hear what the old miss piggy had to say.

Funny thing is that I married hubby because of his assertive behavior. I needed a white knight to fight for me. But sometimes, his aggression was really out of place.

Hey Shari ...

Loved this chapter. Almost laughed out loud when I read Frank could get someone to do the "dirty work" of the stink bomb!

I taught at the university level, rather than the high school level ... two totally different environments. Most of my students cherished he opportunity for the education they were getting ... cost a pretty penny!

I guess we'll see how the velvet gloves approach works out. I'm anxious to see how that goes! Loving this.

Best to you, my friend!

Alan
