G'day Shari. Great work mate. I have to say that I would have been like Frank under the circumstances, still would now probably. Having said that, you probably handled it the right way, you certainly had a right to know and should have been advised before that time. I'll jump to the next chapter and find out. Cheers Fez

Thanks, Fez. I suspect all men try to protect their wives with violence. LOL

Wrong is wrong. This sounds like the seniority crap in the past, where the senior teacher regardless of ability got the job. I'm basically dumped on because I teach the a related art, foreign language exploration. I often teach the same same course to the same students three years in a row. Boring. I've dressed it up, rearranged the course, and developed my class because I have an extensive background in language, so each grade level gets to experience something different. It's a lot of bloody work. I guess I'll have to read to the next chapter to find out why. I smell spoiled fish, if you know what I mean. I'm going to start my national board certification this year, so I will be around sparingly. I have a migraine right now and for some reason I can tolerate this but not my school work. What's up with that?
Anyway, I didn't note any spag or any awkwardness. Frank is definitely a knight in shinning armor, though not very polished, rough around the edges, but those are the best ones. You can tell him that.

You have Frank's personality down to a Tee. Good luck with the NBC. My department got hers, but she gripped about all the work involved.
In some ways you're lucky to teach the same thing every year. Our school county delighted in making English teachers try something new every year!

Thanks, Mom. I married Frank because I knew he would be my hero. But there comes a point when has to stop being dependent on anyone to fight their own battles.

I am glad he is your hero. Yes, sometimes we just have to step up to the plate and get the job done.

I hand it to you, for keeping your cool with Ellen. Wisely, you used the method of the old adage, "You can catch more flies with 1 teaspoon of honey, than a gallon of vinegar."
Funny, I would have handled the matter exactly as you did. My dear hubby, on the other hand, would most definitely have gone in there with boxing gloves on. I usually have to be the calming influence.
Home is the place to blow off steam, but you need to be in control, to at least hear what the other person says. Then you can know what approach to take.
Well done!

Regarding your reaction versus your hubby's, my therapist explains why men behave this way.

"Piggy eyes"? Her "tonnage"? LOL How did you REALLY feel about her? A dirty trick on you to take away a coveted job,,,and at such a time. Out of a stressful family episode right into a tense work-related situation...SM is getting into his tights!

Kisses for the exceptional rating. Except for that incident, I had the greatest respect and admiration for my department head. She was brilliant and a member of Mensa. But I couldn't believe the amount of food she ate for lunch everyday. It's a wonder she didn't have a stroke or heart attack. Yeap, a dirty trick to pull while I was away. Wonder how she would have handled it if I had been there. I'm chuckling at the sight of you in tights. LOL

I don't know how your meeting is going to turn out but kudos to you for taking the bull by the horn and asking her face to face. 8-)

Somehow I missed this and only discovered it when I began reading the intro of your next chapter. But, I'm here now... :)

Hah-ha, I love Frank... the way he thinks. A stink bomb in her office, that's good. But the hitman was even funnier, lol. And of course it's doable. I'm even available--for the right price of course.

Anything for a friend, heh-heh.

So, you decided to go into your superior's office and confront her face to face, huh? I can't say as I blame you, but I do question your choice of venues. You don't confront a bear in her cave nor a lioness in her den. You get them out in the open and away from the comfortable surroundings they have grown accustomed to.

But...that's just the way I think.

I read on...

I never thought about her office as a place where she had control. Mainly, I wanted privacy. But it's a hint worth remembering. Thanks for going back to review.

Sure thing, Shari. You're welcome. I don't know how I missed it in the first place??

We all have those unfair moments in life and would love to lash out. Good thing most of the time it stays in our imagination.

I love how you set up this chapter. The confrontation with your supervisor is just about to begin. Excellent choice to start it after the bell sounds. It feels so right. Way to set the mood.

Excellent writing, I can feel your rage at not being able to teach the honors class. I am looking forward to your boss' answer as to why she changed your classes. The reader can feel the emotion in this story.

I look forward to hearing her answer to such a straightforward question. Lol, I hope she stutters a bit when she does!
