Hi Eric, thank you for your kind words, they are appreciated. Please keep on feeding the faith in Christ you have and allow it to grow. God fully understands our reluctance and is willing to help us overcome it. The story of Gideon comes to mind....see how God "stooped to his weakness" and made him a champion thru grace.
When Christ talked to the discouraged disciples on the Emmaus road (Luke 24), He rebuked them for not searching and believing the scriptures, Love will do that sometimes. Then He opened the OT scriptures, pointing out all the references to Himself and detailing His death and resurrection. There's a time for sorrow and there's a time to get back into the Bible and see Christ again...be refreshed and renewed. God bless you, Dennis

A very well written and interesting piece. I have read the story of Job many times, and these is the first time that I realized that God is actually praising him. Just goes to prove that you can't merely read through the Bible a few times, but you must study it with an open heart. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your kind comments. I find too that reading scripture will open our hearts many times and renew our minds in the love of Christ and His plan for our lives. The Psalm 1 man is our example...meditating day and night on the word of God. This is soul nourishing and energizes us for serving Him. God bless, Dennis

A well written piece Dennis. I stand strongly for God now. I just pray I never falter under persecution. I used to be a man-pleaser, but now only desire to be a God pleaser.
Wonder of wonders, the Scripture promises many other believers will receive praise from God as well as Job! - during my time in counseling, God often woke me at 3-4 am. I would begin praying and more than once, God told me He was proud of me for speaking the truth in love to my in-laws (I didn't include this in the book). I was so happy, I started to cry!

The fear of failing God under persecution is one we all share to some degree, I'm sure. Yet Peter did, and so did all the others at the time of Christ's arrest and crucifixion. So what happened? Were they abandoned? Or did they learn they could not depend on their own strength? Every failure points us to our ongoing need of Him every day to serve Him acceptably.
The Apostle Paul asked, "Who is sufficient for these things?" The answer is, no one is up to serving Christ fully and well except by the Spirit of God. So Paul turned the liability of his weakness into an asset by using it as a reminder he need to tap into the "supply of the Spirit of God". He wound up rejoicing in his own weakness, as it provided God with the opportunity to show His power to all. God bless you, Dennis

Yes, God praises men of godly and goodly characters like Job, David, Moses, and many others. God is highly delighted when man showcase righteousness beyond limits. I love the topic and your drive. Remain blessed.

Thank you. God's righteousness is imputed to us through faith in Christ's atoning work on the Christ. This righteousness allows us to feed on God's Word and thus grow in grace to the end result the inner righteousness is seen in the outer life to God's glory. God bless, Dennis

I have never particularly cared for the "I'm third (God's first, Other's second, I'm third.) philosophy. One should do their best. The Final Judgment is not accepted by most.

I agree...the set-up question is often asked, "How do you spell JOY?" The standard answer is, "Jesus first, Others second, and You last." I think it should be Jesus first, You second, and Others third.
How can one help another find Jesus and joy unless he/she finds such for themselves before them? On your other point, I think the Final Judgment is mot definitely believed by most people. There are many teachers/preachers who themselves believe it.

There are two premises that God praises men, it's the faith we have in Him that carries, alternatively it's the way we behave in Loving Him, and our neighbour that evokes pleasure From God, He knows, and we know, we don't "measure up" but it's our resting and depending on Him that evokes His pleasure the shortfall is made up by Christ, thus making us "perfect" in His sight, Phillipians 3:14. Talks about our upward calling, we haven't arrived, but we strive. My children bring me pleasure, I boast about them, not because they're perfect, but because their hearts are pure, I take pleasure in them loving me it's hard to explain! Thanks brother Roy. gracious as always. O would only say we are not just forgiven but actually new creatures in Christ, made in the image of Christ and have the Holy Spirit in residence. We are seen as perfect already both by being born again and also by being "in Christ." Is there any sin in Christ? No. Are we in Christ? Yes. Blessings brother, Dennis

I would love to agree with you but sometimes we are not so humble even though we are born again. God will correct us even as a good father does for his disobedient children. Hope you are feeling well, I'm just catching up after having emergency surgery for acute appendicitis. Glad to have anything about me be cute at 79. :)
