I can certainly appreciate your sentiment in this sobering write. I'm sure there are many of our "Hero's" that would forgo that title just to have their digits and appendages back...it's too sad really.
You do a solid job of portraying the cost of freedom in this short piece and I wish you success with you entry,

I agree with your short poem. Too few even understand why we are trying to defend freedom and just think those who do are warmongers. We should be SO grateful to our brave military.

Yes, tjey deserve our respect and support. Still, I wish there was peace and it was not necessary for our young men and women to sacrifice so much for us.

Seven words never packed so much punch. War is a horrible thing and my own dad was wounded in way that didn't show, but kept him in pain all his life.

Thank you wordcraft3195. I agree - war is a horrible thing and wonder when the human race will become enlightened enough t to realize that we are one. I' sorry your Dad had to go through that. War leaves scars both physical and emotional. That's why I am an activist, trying to spread the message of peace.

Thank you tenesseerose. I am not a veteran but am a peace activist. I believe in honoring the soldiers fir the job they do but that they also wish for peace so their very personal sacrifices would not be necessary..
