Hard not to mention the adorable cat picture first - the grey on its side looks like a heart:). But on to your well written senryu, I like the use of spine here to mean your actual backbone, and maybe the other meaning of standing up for yourself.

I guess this one is totally over my head, and as much as I love quirkiness in senyru I feel this makes no sense. I am willing to hear a thought, that I'm missing.

I've found, as a lot of Australians have that you don't get dry humour, thanks for the review.

Meets requirements for Senryu. Poor little scared kitty! Something is definitely threatening this little one.
Best wishes in the contest.

I love this. But, the Senryu police would have a field day. A Senryu is usually ironic or satirical regarding human nature. Just like haiku in format. And a satori (moment of reflection, aha)
So it's awesome with spine.
Scared
That ...
Run up spines (dangerous)
Just an idea. OR I'm reading it wrong?

Interesting twist on a common saying you sent shivers up my spine. Different perspective in this clever Senryu. Good luck in the contest .I like the photo of the cat with fur standing up you picked to illustrate it.

Senryu that is less than 17 syllables. Your poem reflects the fright or chill of a cat that arches its back. It is a simple and direct statement that made me smile. I do say, however, that without the picture, I am unable to visualize your poem because it lacks concrete imagery. Your poem, however, works very well with your selected photo. Thank you for sharing. I wish you success in the contest.

Very clever senryu; I love the play on words, "if I had a spine".
The picture is perfect, as it looks like the cat has chills up her spine ...whatever it was, made the hair on the back of her neck stand up;)
Excellent!
Best of luck in the contest,
Amy
