This is a sad and lonely poem, I felt sorry for the man who lived all alone. everybody needs someone to interact with. He must have been very old to remember horse drawn carriages.

maybe continue in chapter two why he was so unhappy with his life sounds like he was a recluse, a hermit they called them in the old days
