Motivated by the devil is my guise toward these questions. No child of God who I know would never mistreat a child. Best to you in the contest.

Thanks, Ben. I would more likely look towards psychological damage caused by violence and abuse being common in their environment.

This applies to so many situations, in terms of misuse and injustice, and good the aggressor not named.
Nicely worded.
My best to you.
Good luck in the competition.
Best wishes,

Tragically, this poem reveals the horrors of abuse that exist for so many children in the world. You have summed up really the answers to all the questions: darkness, evil, monster, savagery. That tortured monster would be the devil, who is behind all the evil in the world.

Thanks, Mel. Yes it is a shameful secret going on in many societies.

Yes it is. We need to educate ourselves and others and never stop speaking out. We should all be working to stop this.

I can't see anything wrong with that, the question starts on the first line and there is nothing to say it can flow over to more lines. This poem wouldn't have been anywhere near as good had you not done this. It is an incredible poem, and you ask some very good questions, I just wish there were some answers so we could deal with the problem. Good luck in the contest! xsx Sandra

Thanks, Sandra. Sadly, I suspect there will never be any real answers to this.

I found this to be an interesting read.
There is a message in between these line.
This is what I call a food for thought poem, meaning...
After you read it you go mm.
Thank you for sharing.

G'day Steve. Darn mate I don't have a six left, sorry. This is powerful stuff and brilliantly written as well. As far as I can tell it fits within the rules, but who knows with this mob cobber. I had an entry but I'm not going to submit because of the way they operate or don't operate, who knows. Cheers and good luck Sir, I hope you win, Fez

Thanks mate, not at this point but we had five in the last two weeks hovering around Manilla, but luckily they bugger off somewhere else LOL. They actually get 26 per year on average here, that's outrages.

That's our history my friend, from Genesis' Abel/Cain to modern day monsters; your reflections in all the whys are profound but, sadly....there are no answers; excellent rhyming; outstanding job!

Hi Kiwisteveh..sounds perfectly fine to me. Outstanding to ask oneself where does this darkness and savagery come from. Society seems to become more cruel. To think that we will all teach the way we were taught is a scary inception. "till small bones break." Awesome! Take care and cheers.

Thank you! I know it doesn't have to be like this - many victims of abuse break the cycle with steely determination that they will not pass this on to the next generation. However, for others, being raised in a household where violence is so common it is considered normal is a legacy they step right into.

Meter, rhymes and questions asked, seems to fit the prompt and go even a bit further. Much savagery is just blind rage exploding, not driven or tempered by
anything inside the beast...Excellent post

Thank you - but wouldn't you say that the inability to control that rage is often a product of environmental factors - exposure to an environment where violence is so common it is considered normal?
