No. It wouldn't be wrong to watch it's antics of this prehistoric little insect. Dragoflys lend themselves heavily into Japanese lore and are one of the totems. My Son is a Blackhawk instructor. Of course they always make me think of this creature.

The ones in England are more like spitfires lol. They aim for you and try to land on your head as they buzz near your ear and make you jump. This is a good poem but I am still not convinced lol. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Darlene. Well maybe the British ones are more aggressive. Spitfires, i like that metaphor.

Well, sir, you take the first of my sixes with this stunning creation - marvelous meter, highly evocative and just the most wonderful rhyme. All in all as breathtaking as the dragonfly itself! (Recited aloud it is even more beautiful. I'll be saving this one to enjoy again!)

A delightful poem on the dragonfly. Our late poet Laureate, Ted Hughes mentions "the dragonfly, that eats meat and bullets by" in his poem To Paint a Water Lilly. That poem takes a look at the darker side of many of the beutiful things in nature, hence the rather unflattering lines about the dragonfly quoted here.

This is the second dragonfly poem of yours that I have reviewed in two days. Bothe excellent pieces.

Thank you Pantygynt. It is interesting too, how different cultures percieve this little guy. I'll likely get into that some time. Appreciate the review and compliment.

Thank you for the facts about dragonflies and the dramatic photograph of the aerialist. I enjoyed your rhythmic Sextets and the rhyme scheme plus your concluding question. No thugs--these "tiny airborne torpedoes"! More cheers- Joan
