This is a great poem. If I was a dragonfly, I could fly so well and most importantly I could eat these damn mosquitoes that bite me so much in the summer. Well done, Tom.

I do enjoy this style, Tom, and perfect for the telling of the dragonfly. There are some beautifully coloured ones that fly over our local stream. Your authors notes are very enlightening, I didn't know half of what you've kindly told us. The photo again, it perfection, and I really loved the poem. Excellent, my friend.

Treischel,
I absolutely LOVE this! I read it yesterday on my phone, and had to wait until today to come back and review it properly!

SO much fun!
'Those see-through wings of black and white
That seem so delicate and light
Will carry little dragon on the wind
At speeds to take your breath away
In agile, acrobatic play,
Then hover gracefully where air has thinned. '
(a little dragon on the wind at speeds to take your breath away!)
(I love that!)

and then you tell of his gentle nature... and how kind and helpful a little bug he is...
awwww
'These creatures are misunderstood.
Their habits really are quite good.
They actually will never sting or bite.
These tiny airborne torpedoes
Quickly catch and eat mosquitoes.
For them, they have a healthy appetite. '
(yeah! I'm glad somebody is doing that!)

(and then you talk about its acrobatics... oh how I love to watch them dart and zip about!)

(and also, the beauty of the colors... the glimmering and glistening of the wings....and you end it all with a question...)
'Is such a delicate delight,
That I could watch its antics all day long.
Would that be wrong? '

Hell no! I'll sit here with you and watch! :)
I loved it! Just gorgeous and a beautiful photo to boot!

Well done! Absolutely lovely! And the author's notes teach us all
a thing or two as well! Loved it from the first to the last

What a beautiful image filled description of a dragonfly. The poem flows well with its aabccb sestets and the ending aabb quatrain. They do speed by. I don't think I have ever seen one land. I didn't realize they come in so many colors.

Keep writing

You did a great job with the poem and the author notes are very interesting. I didn't know how much was to know about fireflies. Wow!

I've always referred to the dragonfly as my "totem insect." I'm amazed at their beauty and their agility. They most certainly are acrobatic and a delight to observe.

You did a super job capturing the very unique characteristics of this gorgeous insect. It's good to remember that they're : Not enemy or hurtful thug.

Great poem. Very interesting facts, thank you for bringing the dragonfly's history to us. I think it's there weirdness and speed in flight that made me feel they can harm. I don't come across them often but I will definitely look at them with new eyes and better knowledge about them.
